What did you get done on your Stang today????

Hose and fittings from Jegs. I had a few sections of heater hose with 90 and 45 degree bends that I ran through the firewall.

I just still need to install the trim clips around the windshield before I attempt to put it in. Or maybe not? I don't have new trim yet so seems almost pointless to put the clips on now when eventually it all has to come off when I get it painted. No point putting trim on and risk it getting scratched or bent before the car is painted.

I installed my clips after the windshield went in. It's easy to do if you know where the studs are. I used small pieces of masking tape around the perimeter wherever there was a stud, with a mark pointing to the stud location.

While waiting for the UPS man to deliver some parts to fix my daughters car, the coupe started calling to me. I relented and finally finished the brake pedal assembly mods (MustangSteve lowered pedal pin and bracket reinforcement). Since that what was done, I made sure the booster fit properly. It did and just begged to have the new master cylinder bolted up. It all fit perfectly and looks real purty too!

After getting the expected visit from the brown truck and finishing my daughters car (finally!), I decided to clean and paint the "new" sway bar for the coupe. It's not a 1", I instead found a cheaply priced original 65/66 GT bar. I got that all done and it was also the last major piece of the suspension to refinish/restore. It was only an hour or two of work completed, but at least it was a step forward. I feel a little motivation finally returning!

I got the new 1/2" drop motor mount in that I cut out last week in the car today. And I swapped out the cowl hood for a fiberglass hood with the gt350 scoop on it. I'm not too happy with the hood...it looks like its flat on the back edge. I may see if I can get my original hood back on the fastback. I may need to do the full 1" drop to get enough room.

Sunday I installed my wiper motor and arms. Only took 5 hours :char

When I welded the cowl up I used a 66 wiper arm assembly to align the cowl and wipers. I clamped the motor and arms in with the original bolt holes, except the drivers side was all replaced. Then I welded the nuts to the cowl panel since the replacement cowl ends don't have the nuts stamped into the sheet metal. I went to install my arms and could not get the 64.5 motor/arms in. They went in except the drivers side so I assumed paint was in the threads. I went to get my snap-on tap and die set out for a 1/4-20 tap, to find it snapped in half. Guess someone used it when I was still at Cat and broke it :nut

So I used my wiper bolts to chase the threads...... Which the final bolt snapped off in the bolt hole with almost zero pressure. Pretty sure it would have broken off when torqued :(

Hours later after trying everything to get the broken bolt out, I got it frilled out and removed. I figure "OK she will bolt right in" well WRONG!!!

The extra boss the 64.5 has for screw on bezels under the wiper arms was pushing the arm down so the bolt holes would not align. I had to get a grinder out and oval the inner cowl panel a little to get it close. I then had to drill the holes in the 64.5 arm mount to the next drill bit size up. Once I did that, the arm bolted right in.

Sadly if I had used the 64.5 arm to mock up this would not have happened. I was afraid of damaging the arm with the welding heat.

Laid down some primer!!! I have a PPG Omni high!!!

Getting ready to swap engines, I built an engine hoist, removed the hood, and removed the driveshaft. I had forgotten about the fluid escaping the T-5 when you do that last bit. Someday I'll own a plug.

Added speedbleaders and gave the new brake system a final bleed. Added the "Saleen" caliper decals. Looks sweet! :pbj

Replaced headlight bulb that was ~20 minutes old when it failed (and NO, I hadn't touched it). :rant Adjusted the headlights a little higher.

Pulled my NOS Pioneer CDXP610 CD changer out of the box and played with where to mount it. When this is done, I'll have a complete new Pioneer setup from the early 90's - KEHP6200 AM/FM cassette, 6-CD changer, and BP880 equalizer... :roll

You've been busy this winter working on that Saleen! Where are all the pictures?????
:wop

Finally had a chance to finish the toploader Saturday and ad heim ends to the stock Hurst linkage. Shifts real smooth, crisp and tight. I'll wait to fill it with fluid until I have it mounted back to the bell housing and ready to go back in the car.

Thanks to Tony (Comic) for convincing me to just modify the stock linkage. It was a pretty simple job.

Sunday, I went to a buddy's house and helped him install a new solid surface c-top, sink, stove, under hood m-wave and a dishwasher. I need a break from the weekend.

Sure would be nice to have some windows behind a work bench like that.

Just need a few 2x's and the windows. Cut hole in garage, install, enjoy.

I put my Z-bar back in with new frame bracket. Of Course Jeff and Craig played CalTrans supervisors. :roll
