What did you get done on your Stang today????

I am soo jealous. Especially since we've had such a mild winter so far.

It got into the 70's today. Reinstalled the driver side kick panel in my wife's Mustang. Worked on wiring problems in mine. Fixed the non functioning temp gauge.

+1. I wont even think about it until the salt gets washed off the road by spring time rain. You guys driving really sucks for me.

Today I just ordered a boat load of parts for the stang thru NPD. They will be here Tuesday and nothing was back ordered. Gotta love NPD. I pulled the trigger on a retrosound model one radio. I hope I like it. :yah

Same here in the northeast. First green Christmas in a long time. Calling for 6" snow tonight, we'll see.....

Not my Mustang but I got the newly refurbished rear end ready for the 65 vert I'm working on. Plan to install it today.

Family went shopping today, so I stayed home and worked on the Saleen... Almost.

Pulled the front wheels off for the brake job. On the driver's side, the piston (phenolic) has a severe crack - surprised it held pressure. The rubber boot was seriously melted as well. About 1/3pad life left. At least it's a correct, original 73mm caliper. On the passenger side, the caliper and pads were nearly new... Of course, they were WRONG - it was a 60mm piston, which is the non-Saleen / std Mustang part. Probably explains why the brakes felt so funky. (Who does a brake job on 1 wheel only? A P.O. of course! :wtf )

I did luck out and found Kelsey-Hayes 73mm calipers on clearance at Rock Auto for $9 each, with no core. :pbj Went ahead and picked up rear pads (Wagner Posi-Quiet for $8!), and the rear hardware kit ($3!). It's already shipped - hopefully have it all for next weekend. Already have all 4 new rotors and the front pads, plus the new front calipers will have new bolts and rubber hardware included, so I should be "set"... (The bolts would have cost me more than the whole semi-loaded calipers did!)

Since the brake plan went out the window, I decided to swap in the new 6pc headlight kit. I knew I was in trouble from the start. Should be 14 - 7/16" nuts - - - 7 were 7/16", 5 were 3/8", and 2 would only work with a 10mm. One of the headlight pins was broken (which is the reason I was replacing), but the attaching clip is also MIA, so I just ordered a couple hardware kits to complete that job as well.

I did a lot of work today, but got nothing done. :shrug

Shopping around on Rock you can come up with some super sweet deals..on top name brands too!

I actually got something done today too...finally!! I finished up the mods to my brake pedal assembly and support. I put in the Mustang Steve lowered pin and made the reinforcing plate a week or so back. Today I finally got it all finished and new painted on the parts. As soon as they're dry I'll be able to reassemble everything a do a final fit to the car. Not much, but every little thing gets me that much closer to the finish line! :yah

started to mock up my 65 shock tower mod for the 351W swap! i know it will fit tight without any cutting but i hate the stock towers anyways so now i will have plenty of room to work, drop the motor in with the headers and it will look good when done! then while i'm at it i installed a power booster from a 85 jeep that fit right in with just a few little mods....just havin fun!

The big brown truck came today. :yah Now Thursday and Friday I can put my new rollerized pedal support together.

I also got:
retrosound radio and speakers
hood/cowl seal
NSS/back up light harness and ext. harness for t-5 hook up
Paint for the steering column
Steering column seals
Courtesy light bulbs
Fuses
OEM style firewall pad retainer pins

They also sent me the 2012 catalog :yah

Now I just got to turn on the heat in the garage, wait 2hr. for the temp. to come up and while I am waiting for the temp. to rise, go buy some liquid refreshment to help me consentrate.

Nothing yet, but I'm planning on yanking the trans (again) and get hydraulic throwout bearing finally adjusted.

Seems like one step forward and two steps back. The wife bought me a portable garage/shelter so I could get some work done on the coupe without freezing my, well, you know whats off. Monday afternoon we got the frame assembled and the main cover on before running out of daylight. It was over the Mustang, but the ends weren't on yet and it wasn't anchored down. My buddy stopped by and helped move it into position. It had been assembled next to the car, in the spot where I normally park my truck. He made the comment that he wouldn't park the truck back in the spot until the shelter was finished and anchored down. I told him that was my intent. Someone then asked whether the shelter would be alright like it was? My repsonse was a rather prophetic statement that it would be fine unless we got some high winds. Guess what we got early yesterday morning before I got up? HIGH WINDS! I walked out to go to work and there the shelter was, flipped over against the end of the house AND against my truck. My truck?!!! WTF?!! Seems the wife didn't get the memo and moved my truck back into it's normal spot. Since the coupe was under a cover I didn't know what damage it suffered, if any. My truck suffered a small ding in the front fender and paint scuffs. The coupe didn't suffer any damage. So much for me going into work. I ended up taking the day off to move the shelter back into place, finish the assembly of it and ANCHOR it down securely. With the ends on, it prevents wind from easily getting underneath it also.

What does all this have to do with getting something done to the car? Well, I FINALLY got the cover off of the coupe for good (hopefully). It was a pain to work on the car because I'd have to uncover it, work and then cover it back up. It's also very comfortable inside the shelter and I didn't even have a heater in it yet (it was in the upper 30's yesterday). Feeling I got something accomplished I figured I'd roll with it and after supper got some suspension pieces and coil spring covers in the blast cabinet and finished up. They then got painted and were scratched off the "to do" list. All that's left for the entire front suspension is to clean up the coil springs, sway bar and it's brackets. After that the entire front suspension is ready to go back in! What started out as a real crappy day ended with some positive stuff.

BTW, I was upset when I discovered what had happened. I was total PO'd when my daughter came home. She told me when she had left for work that morning she saw the shelter tipped over. Hmmm, okay. "But dad, it wasn't on your truck then". WTF?!!!! Had she taken the time to come in and wake me up I could have prevented the damage to it. Sheesh! :rant

Finally got a chance to pull the motor today. It had developed a leak at the end of track season and needed to be addressed.

What do you think, was it leaking?

Pulled the clutch assembly and flywheel off looking for a leak. It was pretty dry, just a very small amount of oil around the oil pan lip. Maybe the front seal on the toploader is leaking. Since I was going to pull the tranny as well to adjust the linkage and replace the speedo drive gear, I guess I'll check and replace seals too.
