What did you do to your Mustang Today?

To those who are much smarter than me. Distilled water is cheaper and easier to cleanup when testing your new engine and cooling system.

God truly has a sense of humor. I’m not sure I do right now lol

Thermostats housing leaking(brand new with new manifold)

And the upper hose is leaking so not sure if it’s the fitting, hose clamp or what.

More clean up, disassembly and a redo.

Happy Saturday!!!

Chris

Thank you!

This is the shifter I used. I would be more than willing to pay for shipping plus if you find that adapter :)

Chris

Here's the brackets they move the shifter back either 1.25" or 1.75". These style brackets or home made brackets are very common on fox to new edge mustangs because the stock position sucks.

Is this a brand new efi install?
You could say that, I had the same system on my 289. But then upgraded to larger injectors, and super Victor intake.

I’m going to start it without the O2 sensor on… so I think that’s “open loop” to check for leaks, etc.

I’ll let it run for maybe 10 or so minutes. Let her cool and retorque the intake, headers etc…then if everything is good, I’ll then install the exhaust , get o2 bung installed etc

Then finish putting her all back together.

Almost there!! Definitely need to buy and make my own ignition wires….

These Motorsport wires are all over the place…guessing they’re designed to route in front of the heads and go back. I want the vintage look but maybe for now, or permanently I’ll route them in front of the heads.

My $25 Ford Racing wires, closeout at Summit in 2021. Engineered for a Fox Body.
I'm curious why you want to disconnect your oxygen sensor for initial fire up? I've heard running them not plugged in kills them?

This thread is in the classic Mustang section. So, I'm not sure if it's classics only or any Mustang. Mods, please delete or move if I got this wrong LOL...

I haven't done much to my 65 in a while. However, I have been working on my 1990 LX. And I did install a classic style Hurst shifter, if that counts LOL....

I converted my interior from Grey to Tan.

You will find that we are not really into rules. If it is a Mustang we want to see and talk about it. But don't stop there, if it is a Ford we want to see it, heck we even let the wayward Chevy in once in a while.

It’s just for a short bit. And only one time. On the Edelbrock website it says it’s fine…and says how to turn them off.

Heck it’s in open loop until you reach 180 degrees.

People do it for events at fairgrounds and such so they can run open headers.

It’s just checking for leaks etc and then I’ll have the bung welded into the H pipe. And start reassembling the whole front end. Its definitely easier to work on the car without fenders, hood etc…

Now lining it all back up…already have a headache.

I really shouldn’t say this because as you know, I will curse myself. But right now, my car is doing everything that I wanted to do, and doing it correctly. I really have nothing to do on it. With all my issues in the cooling system being warmer than I liked it being, now it is actually running cooler than I want it to be. 195 appears to be the magic number for burning off water and contaminants in the oil and in 70-80 degree ambient temperature running around town maybe it’ll get up to 195. It hangs around 190 instead most of the time. That’s a new feeling for me.

Now my winter project is going to be replacing the leaf springs, but that doesn’t need to be done. In almost every situation when I tell my wife, my car is doing well, well then it’s not.

I use msd street fire cut to fit wires in black. Wipe them down with brake clean or laquer thinner and the logos will come right off. Also the included msd vice crimper makes perfect crimps.

She’s alive!!! After chasing what I thought were ground issues(sanding the block and tiny spot on the firewall with 80 grit…

Started pushing connections and then pulling on wires and found a bad crimp. Only 6 hours later after my first attempt lol

Here she is. :)

So so happy. :)
