"Starfury" said:What law covers side exit exhaust? I'm not aware of any, aside from the very vague law concerning modifying vehicle exhaust to amplify sound. Hell, lots of trucks come from the factory with side exit exhaust, if only on one side.
"johnpro" said:It's my understanding that the exhaust must exit the car BEHIND the rear most opening passenger window. This would make side exhaust legal on trucks and SUV's, and legal in front of the tire on fastbacks and SN95 vehicles where the quarter glass is stationary, but not on coupes where the quarter window can be rolled down.
The idea is that you don't want the exhaust rolling up in the face of your passengers in the back seat.
