Let's see if i can pull this off: (post effort comment - only took 90mins to move this behemoth)
2000 - 2026 and counting....

NOV 7 2009:

As some of you know - my 9month resto of my 67 has stretched into a 9 year extravaganza of waiting for the confluence of time and money.

9 years ago I had the body blasted and prepped for paint.
8 years ago I put the thing on the rotisserie and added torque boxes and sub frame connectors.
5 years ago I bought the CA/TCP Power Rack and Coil Overs.
Then things stalled.

Earlier this year EVM decided to cease operations. Hearing that they had 2 watts/3link kits in powder coating, Nick helped me acquire one of their last units. This got me moving again.

In this thread, Ill post the various stages of the job in separate posts. (easier reading)

The Plan

Ok, so - what is the plan?

Overall - build a zippy street oriented mustang that handles and brakes well enough for occasional track days, is comfortable and maintains the classic 60's Steve McQueen esque look.

Body -
LH and RH Torque boxes
SubFrame Connectors.

Suspension -
TCP Coil Overs and a Power Rack up Front.
EVM 3Link/Watts over a 9" out Back

Power -
This is where it gets dicey. Originally I was planning on a 347 bottom end using
my existing SD EFI and Trick Flow Heads in front of a nice T5. Recently, however,
I have been thinking GTO LS2 in front of a T56. I touch on this topic more later
in the series.

Wheels -
17" Torque Thrust/Max Tire Sizes.

Brakes -
Undecided. Baer or Brembo. BIG. No Wilwood due to backspacing complexities.

Comfort -
AC of course.

Paint -
Factory Dark Green. PPG.

Chassis

I realized that the old girl was getting on in years but I want the car to feel crisp and tight - so - seam welding and SubFrame connectors were the prescription to insure 100's of K-miles more to come.

First up - Acquisition of the Whirly-Jig. Commercial grade Rotisserie. I have my eye on a convertible job down the road - so I sprang for the high end rig.

Whily-Jig Pics

Getting the car onto the jig was a bit of fun. It took three tries. I have decided to not share the pics of try one. Suffice to say- I was a no - go....

I had to fabricate some basic brackets and I grabbed the car from the front and rear bumper mounts. Once I figured out how to balance it, all went smoothly and I was able to easily rotate the car to any position w/o feeling threatened by the tremendous potential energy gathered in the assembly.

Mounting the Car on the Body Handler - Take 3

Now that the car was on the body handler, the seam welding/TorqueBoxes/SubFrame connector job was on....

EVM! The three link of the Gods

Here are the details of the install of the EVM 3 link. I opted for the Weld-in because I have realized that at this late date - I am never going to grow up, mature OR put the car back to stock. :)

I bought a large bearing 9" housing as my old Versailles housing was not compatible w/ the EVM.

Back from the Dead

This thread is back from the Dead! The fastback is in the paint shop!!!!!

Had to strip everything off (again). Have added ford tooling fenders and turn signal hood.

Doing Epoxy Black under and in engine bay. Dark Moss Green 2 stage Urethane with Ghost Sebring Stripes.

I have also selected the drive-line for when it gets back. Going 408 Windsor / Aluminum Heads / Throttle Body FI (425/455) backed by TKO600.

Plan is to have complete on or before Jun9. Have invite to car show here in GA on Nov4 - so needs to be definitely done before then!

Nick (dodgestang) was kind enough to do an artist rendition of what it should look like. Then - when I was too slow - he went and built one for himself.... :)

Wow - Almost a year to the Day!

My painter was plagued by personnel problems - and this one joker kept wrecking cars and butting in front of me all year - oh wait - that was me! wimper. My wife (3x) My MIL (1x) My SIL (1x) and me (1x). Was a tough year to be a car here at Casa Sud.....

That said. The Underside and Engine compartment have been shot....

This weekend I go to the shop, hang the suspension and take it off the fixture for the last time!!!!!!

PS - Update in planned power. The LS2 fantasy has definitely abated. But now planning on using the FI 427 Windsor Stroker from Summit Racing (since they are local) instead of a 408. Going to use Built T5 behind. :)

I am really hesitant to ask, I suspect it could take pages, but just how does one family have 6 wrecks in one year? (3x for the wife?!?)

JAN 25, 2018:
Wife had 2 different a-holes run stop signs and 1 spectacular a-hole smack her jeep in a parking lot (while said jeep was parked) and drive away. SIL and MIL both t-boned and same intersection on different days by 2 different a-holes and finally - mine - supreme a-f-ck ran yet another stop sign and totaled the VW beetle i had just restored for our daughter.

sigh...

there is an epidemic of BAD BAD driving happening down here in the ATL.

As if to add insult to injury, a-hole #2 that ran stop sign number 2 on my wife - sued US. (she had 6 - yes SIX unbelted and unsecured children between the ages if 8 and 6 months in her buick verano) (think toyota tercel but smaller)

so - yeah. wasn't a great year for us. USAA has stuck with us though - since none of the accidents were our fault.

What am I gonna do next (last) Saturday..... (60's reference) :)

Spent the day hanging the front and rear suspension and getting the fastback off the body handler. The shop is going to hang the fenders and get everything lined up.
I am getting excited that the long long wait for paint is nearing its end and then I can get busy with assembly!...

Here is the box of front suspension bits. (I am planning to use the Street or Track 14" disks - but the drums are used here as placeholders) :)

Here have the front up.

You wouldn't still happen to have the installation instructions for the EVM Watts link, do you? Long story short, I bought mine during the pre-order and never received the instructions.

Thanks!

Is there any negatives to welding in the coil over/Watts link frames? I'm thinking about doing that with my SorT kit.

My only thought is that if you wanted to get rid of it you'd have to cut it out.
Welding it in will also tell you if you have lost integrity in the rear subframe to time ....:)

i think we had to rework a bunch of sections on nick's to get it strong- but its been 10 years so i may be thinking of someone else's
