What have you done on your house today?

I'm not really into the whole man cave thing either. Is just nice to have a place to hang up some of my car collectibles and pictures that the wife doesn't want in the living room.

My "man cave" is my greasy messy garage. It certainly isn't pretty. And now I'm seting up a nice workshop in the basement for woodworking during the winter.

My basement(s) are just that. Plain ole concrete walls and floors. A place to store our stuff and escape a tornado. I see little value in finishing them...unless you have kids. I have no need for "getaways", "man caves" or the such. I'd rather spend the money on track time and Deb would rather travel!
Why am I not the least surprised you would have no use for a MAN cave. Give you an apron and a kitchen with a double oven and you are in seventh heaven.

I've got about a 16x 30 wood working shop in my basement... To justify the tools to the wife meant building a 14x28 playroom for the kids and roughly a 12x18 finished laundry room. I don't regret either one bit... The playroom is more like a den with couches, pool table, fireplace and entertainment. Probably the best benefit is that it is a lot cheaper to heat / cool a basement than it is an above ground standalone structure.

I've been rehabbing my garage this past year and one of the best changes has been moving the 60 gallon air compressor to the basement... that's freed up valuable garage space and also made it a bit quieter.

That's funny, coming from a guy that had to spend thousands on his own "I'm really a man" cave just to compensate for his "short" comings. Shouldn't you be working on your imaginary car?

I was for a few hours this afternoon/evening, Suzy.

Spent the last %$%@$%$^ 2 hours replacing a toilet valve. Bastards had the wrong instructions.

I didn't take a ton of pictures from finishing out my basement, but I had free reign on it - my Wife is cool like that. I would not classify it as a man cave either, just more of a non-traditional finish.

I did a lot of metal and steel work down there also. Go figure...!

The feature wall; reclaimed vintage barn steel; which is grazed from above with linear LED wall grazers to pull out the material texture.

I also am a big fan of indirect lighting, so I did cove lighting where I could...

Built Bonnie a closet, with closets, for her Craft room. Her craft room is a 16'x16' place for her to be creative in as well.

Refined my woodworking skills also during this process... measure twice, cut once... still have all 10 fingers.

Built all of the handrails for the basement as well:

Another feature element was the internally illuminated columns that flank the 75" flatscreen:
