Heat it up with a heat gun then scrape it off with a puddy knife or some other form of scraper that you can keep flat and not dig into the metal.
Will do. I have been wanting a pair of these every since they came out but was waiting on a price break. Like you said the cheap ones are junk. Got my new Dynacorn Stainless Steel sill put in today. They have a much better finish IMO. The cheap aluminum ones are a bright silvery looking while the S.S. ones are more of a deeper, subdued metal finish..
