What did you get done on your Stang today????

Put the blower motor together and tested O'tay. Moved on the fixing my main wiring harness. One bullet pin was broken off inside a plug. It was for the glove box light, and was broken when I took the car apart. I found a teeny drill bit and with great skillz I drilled a small hole dead in the center of the broken bullet plug. I then screwed a sheet rock screw into the hole and wiggled the broken bullet out of the plug. Since it went off flawless, I figured my luck could change at any moment and called it a day.

I still need to find a couple more firewall pad retaining pins, I know I have them because I sandblasted them years ago........... in the words of the great Luke Skywalker "Where could they be?"

Not sure how they would fit but my take offs could be had pretty reasonably. Wheels and tires. IIRC 235/45/17 standard 08 GT silver bullets no curb rash need one center cap(missing blue oval) Tires have at least 50% tread left.

:confu something like those would fit on a 66 coupe?

kat, has the front end been properly aligned on the 66? that might cause the tire to set wrong in the fenderwells a bit.

i ordered the rebuild kits for the clutch master & tslave that burned in the fire. still need to replace the new brake booster that burned & i'll be set to do the t-5 swap & brake swap.

My makeshift blasting "pit" worked well today! It contained just about all of the blasting media. I used less then 25lbs of media, though I'd just recycle what I had used by sweeping it up and dumping it back in, another plus of my little jury rig! I got the front coil springs and one rim blasted. I also got the springs painted this evening and replaced the original markings I found. They really don't mean anything to my project, but I've still replaced most of the various markings I found during disassembly.

Here's what my "pit" looks like:

Might look kinda nice on my 03 GT :roll

Kat I think the rims Sluggo posted are the same style rims Dave Sanborn has on his '66. Check out one of his sig pics in the WWSD board.

My front end hasn't been aligned yet since I installed all the new suspension stuff. I was going to wait until I get my wheels and tires first then take it to the shop and get it aligned.

I'm not sure if they would or not. Did not measure the backspace but I recall it being an issue when I test fit them on the 69.

Correct heater core showed up today. Ordered one for a 1964 Ford Falcon and it fits like a glove. Got the box assembled, short of two missing nuts for the blower motor to housing studs. 1/4 nuts will fix it so no biggie. Now I have a 65/66 new heater core to sit around in a box. Anyone in Central Florida needing a new core? Make you a heckuva deal :)

Soon as I find some more pins for the dash pad I can start installing this stuff. Feels nice to be working on the car again, even if its a hour at a time.

I installed a tefba filter today, ran new heater hoses and installed the new summit racing carb. Didn't get to start it today but will tomorrow.

Personally, I would do a leak pretest of the heater core before installing the heater box into the car.

Walked by and cussed it. Yesterday picked up a tranny that was off a 92 Lincoln Town Car that had a 4.6 modular. I was thinking that since it was from a Modular and was a AOD it would bolt to the aluminum 4.6 I'm going to put in the 68 Vert. After I got the thing home and started comparing the bolt patterns guess what, they don't match. So after a few bad words I call up a friend and ask if he had any knowledge on what Ford done in the early years of the Mod engine. He said he also had bought a tranny for his 4.6 and now he was concerned that his wouldn't fit either. Its funny that I had bought his 302 AOD a couple years ago when he abandoned a swap in a 67 stang and decided to go with a modular and sold me the one for a 302. After a brief pause on the phone he came back and said had the same tranny that he had sold me. And here's the kicker, the tranny I just bought off the junk yard is the exact same tranny I had sitting in the garage that I had bought off my friend. It wasn't my day, or his for that matter. If any of you guys need an AOD, I've got a special on them. On the plus side, I do have the right 4R70W on its way along with a set of front nuckles that I did get a very good deal on. Lets just hope they make it here in one piece.

finally got around to assembling my pedal assembly after the rebuild from the fire damage. i did change the clutch pedal to my own rollerized 'kit" prchased from tractor supply for a whopping $6. also had the rebuild kits arrive today for the clutch master & slave cyl, so rebuilt those as well.

I decided to work on the car since I couldn't make it to Sam's service.

Figured out (with the help of SWMBO) that the big leak is coming from the front seal on the toploader, not the engine. She was able to tell the diff in oil color and I confirmed that it was a heavy oil puddled at the bottom of the scattershield. Might as well rebuild the tranny since it'll be out of the car now. I haven't done that before, should be fun.
