Figure this is a thread that everyone can benefit from.....Ill start....if this needs to moved or merged, please let me know.

So I am getting ever closer to getting the 66 back up on its feet....definitely less time than @Russstang who I think? owns the record. ;)

Got the heater back in, radiator installed twice(when using the shroud, its a little bit different...who knew?) and all hoses and clamps on.

Looking good. We are going to need to see more pictures of this car. The shock tower caps caught my eye, what is going on there?
 
Chris, engine bay looks awesome.
I replied to your last? thread over there about your shifter height and suggested you drill equidistant holes (2?) so that you can lower the shifter in increments to see where you llike it.

Haven't done anything to my 65 today, as of yet, but over the last couple of weeks, I primed and painted the trunk, installed a new 22 gallon gas tank, and just finished priming/painting the trunk hinges. I'm waiting on getting some MasterCoat metal prep so I can phosphate/oil my bolts and start putting it all back together.

I have the Street Or Track coilover system up front...I have not re-installed the export brace yet. At some point I want to put faux shock absorber mounts and cut down some old shocks and mount them like I have a factory suspension.

Last time I ordered I got a half gallon of MC metal prep, as I've almost gone through 2 qts and I don't think the shipping was any more. I use it on anything that has a hint of rust - nuts, bolts, brackets get a 15 min soak, bigger parts get it brushed on. I need a perforated riser tray for my soaking jar so the rust can fall off and not sit against the part while soaking. after dry they get soaked in trans fluid (thanks to Lizer). I've used it on everything I work on pretty much from my Mustang, Jeep, Miata's, ramp to boat dock refurbish, etc.

If they don't get soaked in trans fluid they get a coat of the MasterCoat Silver. Great products all the way around.

In response to your shifter post, I originally went with the "recommended" shifter from MDL when I went to a TKO600 in my 69 Mach 1 and it was too short and I really had to lean forward to shift. I had the correct ford 4spd in it before the TKO600 with a hurst and it was a comfortable shift for me. I did some research and their is a shifter for a 69 Camaro/Firebird that is lower and longer, plus it bends ever so slightly towards the driver. I switched to this one in my 69 Mach 1 and its perfect for me.

One thing you can do is make adapter plates to move the shifter. I have a set I'm not going to use that will move the shifter back 1.5" and allows adjustment up and down, you can have them if you want (provided I can find where I put them)

I bought this multi position kit but I had to cut it to try to get clearance with my setup.


I think I cut off the top two holes on the right hand side of the MP bracket so instead of it tapering upward its now more of a rectangle. You can have them if you want, I'll cover the shipping if I can find them. You can always get some strap and make your own as well, thats what I did in my 03 cobra and ultimately my street rod to get the fit I wanted.

I guess I was wrong about the lower part but its 2" further back towards you and leans 2" towards the driver.

I haven't done much to my 65 in a while. However, I have been working on my 1990 LX. And I did install a classic style Hurst shifter, if that counts LOL....

I converted my interior from Grey to Tan.

For a while I was sooo tempted to convert my Terminator of the chrome hurst shifter back when I had a standard T56. I was probably the only person that had a chrome hurst shifter in my 4th gen Fbody with the classic white knob and I loved it.
Also I see a ripple in the rear bumper of that fox just below the plate, I thought that was a terminator thing. When I was getting my rear bumper resprayed from yellowing my body man bonded something in my bumper to keep it from having the hump.
 
Yes, that Hurst shifter and white ball handle has always been my go to Mike. I did not have a hurst handle in my Terminator, but I do have a white ball shifter. I just think they are cool as hell.....

I don't have a pic on this computer. I'll try to find one and post up later....

Yeah, I have no clue what those bumps in the bumper are about..... I'll deal with it one day.

Its the metal support either bent or its starting to or is rusted :)

And I had the same shifter in my Fox body, by far the best I have ever seen!!
