Saginaw Power steering pump

I got the bracket from the water jet place today and they did a great job. My measurements were off about 1/16" on two of the bolt holes so I had to fix that with the next size up drill bit. I then took a larger bit to allow the allen head bolts to sit flush with the bracket face. I still have to do some more sanding and polishing but it should be done this evening.

Now that they have it programmed in the CAD program the cost to make the next one is much lower. They told me $50 if I provide the material. So if anyone wants to run their alternator on the drivers side and has a GM based rack this is the perfect solution. PM if you want contact info for the water jet company. Just provide my job number and you should be good to go. Of course if you want to do it I'll always take donations to offset the programming costs. :)

Here is a picture of the pump installed. Pulley isn't on but you get the idea. I still need a 6" bolt to put the PS pump bracket on (shoud be here tomorrow) but the engine should be back together my the end of the week.

I'd thought that I would give this a final update to put closure to this thread. I finally was able to take the car out for a decent drive yesterday. I've had some bugs to work out with the new engine. Anyways, I really like the feel of the steering with the Saginaw pump. It does not seem to be a quick and takes a little more effort. Not difficult to move at all but there is more resistance. I find the car tracks a little better. Probably since it doesn't over correct as easily.

Overall it was worth it. If you are going to put on a rack and pinion kit that utilizes a GM rack you may want to do this conversion instead of using a 5.0 Mustang bracket. My combo and belt system is custom so I had to make my own bracket. If you are using a 5.0 setup March makes a bracket that bolts right up.
