Not looking good for Black Plates on the '66

I just got a refund check from the California DMV yesterday for $45, which is the amount of the application fee to put the California Black Plates on the car. I'm guessing I'll receive a rejection letter in the next couple days. I'm guessing it'll be because my plates had a '67 sticker on them. That is SOOOO stupid, as that is the year that would be on it the year after it was bought. I can understand them scratching their head over a '69 since it could never have had a '67 sticker, but all the previous years could have one!

I'll have to decide if I'm going to put a '66 sticker on and try again, or just give them to my daughter and put them on her '67.

John and the California DMV in the same sentence can never be good news. :craz

That's probably the reason they rejected it. When I applied for the yellow and blue plates for my Corvette, the plates had a 69 sticker on them and that was one of the reasons they stated to me on the phone for approving my application. What the law provided was that an "expert" supplied by the DMV would determine if the plates you were requesting to use were in the proper sequence for the model year of your car. Since the sequence could be determined as much by where the plates were issued as by when the plates were issued, I was wondering how they were going to administer that. They don't have a clue. Put the 66 sticker on the plate and send it back. I'll bet they approve it.
