NorCal Cleveland drop in party....a success

What a day. Yesterday garner67 helped me install the T5 and clutch assy to the backside of the Cleveland. Today with the help of so many NorCal Mustang friends, we successfully installed Mr. Clevo into Shag. The engine motor mount bolts were a little stubborn but we got through it. I also had to trim the tunnel hole's front edge by 1/8" for comfort level. Enjoy the pics.

All you guys rock and I truly appreciate all your help.

That's freegin awesome dude. Your gonna love that motor.

Puttin one in a 65 by yourself is a lot of fun. Well, my Dog TC helped a little.

Re: NorCal Cleveland drop in party....a sucess

Congrats on a job well done. You nor Cal guys got it made. :pbj

Re: NorCal Cleveland drop in party....a sucess

Congrats! Looks like a great collection of Mustangs there at the shop today! Kinda surprised your using a stock T5 Shifter though...

Re: NorCal Cleveland drop in party....a sucess

Actually I haven't even thought about the shifter at this point. Yes, trimming the hole ever so slightly might have been avoided if I had chosen a different shifter but at this point, I'm not too concerned. Lots of time to make everything correct.

Re: NorCal Cleveland drop in party....a sucess

So what did you guy's have for lunch, Pizza -N- BEER I hope :pep

Re: NorCal Cleveland drop in party....a sucess

Happy to help. It was a fun morning, and your wife, Barbara, sure helped by bringing by bagels & coffee... nice.

I have a McLeod Slik Stix. I purchased this shifter because it locates the shifter lever one inch back and one inch to the left, which makes for a much better alignment for a stock Mustang center console.

Since you're not installing a center console, I'd recommend either the MeLeod Slik Stix shifter or a Pro5.0 shifter.

Rick, what are you running with your trans?

Re: NorCal Cleveland drop in party....a sucess

Looks like a really productive weekend. You will love having that 5spd behind the Clev. Shag has come a long way... Best wishes, Chris

Re: NorCal Cleveland drop in party....a sucess

Very cool. I enjoyed seeing the car yesterday, Craig, and wish I could have been there again today.

You are doing a fantastic job on that car!

Re: NorCal Cleveland drop in party....a sucess

Craig, you definitely need a better shifter. The factory shifters are rubbery and vague.

I dropped a Steeda Tri-Ax in my fox body. It's much, much more precise than the stock shifter. I was originally going to get a Pro 5.0 (my roommate's '97 T/A had one), but I got the Tri-Ax for cheap.

The Slick-Stik shifters are nice, too. I played with one at the Modern Driveline booth at Hot August Nights last year and really liked it.

Re: NorCal Cleveland drop in party....a sucess

It was a blast Craig, thank you for having us all over to share the experience.

Definitely thank your wife for bringing us the bagels and cafe, that was very thoughtfull.

Oh yeah, that mystery helper kept screeching out "Yeah Baby", it was nice to have our very own cheerleader to keep the moral up.

Re: NorCal Cleveland drop in party....a sucess

Congratulations, glad it was an easy install. :ecit

Can't wait until I see the car in person.

What a great day that must have been! Congrats on dropping the motor in, and what a fine posse you have there - when will you fire it up?

I have a Pro 5.0, but that Slik stix looks kinda cool..... It would have been a heckuva lot easier to swap the shifter before the install. It can be done with the trans in the car.

Congrats Craig. How tight was the fit between the installed exhaust manifolds and the shock towers as the motor was being installed?
