Installation of Shag's front sheetmetal

I would install the doors first, this will influence the rest of the front end sheet metal fit. The door to quarter and door to rocker lines will help you set the doors right. If the doors are empty, you'll need to account about 1/8-1/4" for the door dropping. I would recommend that once you set the doors, go ahead and put the doors together before doing the front sheet metal. This will allow you to get the best door fit. It's 100 times easier to adjust the doors without the fenders on.

Once the doors are right, fenders can go on, put the headlight extensions on before setting the fenders on the car. As mentioned, leave everything loose. Put the grille support/filler panel on and then set the hood on the car to see where you are. I like to put the front bumper brackets and bumper on before the front valence as it allows easy access to all the areas for adjustment. Front valence goes on last and then final adjustments can be made with everything before locking down the bolts.

I know you can get to the back side of the fenders and valances, but my body guy saved me a lot of ass pain by installing my backup lights, parking lights and side market lights before the sheet-metal went on the car. Its a lot easier to install them first and not worry about reaching up behind those parts after they are already on the car.

Craig, I did the doors on the 67 first. When they were perfect I added the fenders without extensions. Then the hood then the valance, rock shield and head light buckets. I did the grille last.

I did it all trial and error and had to remove stuff after getting it perfect to install some other parts, but I can't remember which parts they were. I do distinctly remember doing the headlight buckets darn near last and installing the bulbs at the same time.

HTH.

PS, I had to use a porta power to get the back of the fenders to align up. MH
