I don't see why they couldn't be produced on a small scale, as someone else said, there is a market for these.

Look at the new plastic gauge clusters that are out now for less than $100, where you put your own gauges in. Waay cheaper than the JME gauge set at over $1k.

He made the piece on a proto-typing machine. It is not intended for even limited production really. Remember the video in Jay Leno's garage where they used a machine to "print" a part for an old steam engine that was not made by anyone? He used a machine like that.
Those other inexpensive bezels you refer to are thermo-formed or injection molded. Both are inexpensive if you look at a per piece cost to produce but you first have to invest some serious dollars in hardware to produce them. A mold or die can run into tens of thousands depending on the size and detail. That's a whole lot of gauge pods to sell just to get back to even!

The machine is capable of running basically contiuously to do low volume production, but sadly it is not mine... It is a new machine at the company and it is pretty busy (probably mostly cause it is new). The guy that is running it did me a favor to make this part. He said that they are considering trying to figure out a way for people to use it for personal use (they need to figure out a way for people to pay for the material and stuff), but not sure that will ever happen... If it does, I will let you know...

Hey Stangg...anyway that you could get the 3d Cad drawing and have your son make some at his school? I'd love one or three too!

My son just finished his spring semester and won't be going back until late August. I'll check with him to see if it's possible. The 3D printer was a big part of their selling the machine tool program that he is in, so hopefully he'll be able to use it.

Nice piece, I think there would be a market for these. In time, a solution will present itself.

Update: got it populated and installed with the new gauge bezel as well:

Based on the requests, I have put the part out for quote with a company that has a similar machine that we have had stuff done with in the past. Prices are likely to be hi, but we'll see... what would you guys pay?

Any progress on this?? I am in need of a Rally-Pac for my son's car and really like what you did over a repo unity. I really don't like the idea of dropping $400 bucks on something like this and like the rally-pack look..

We should do a group purchase on this.. I have also picked out my tach and clock, but need the housing. I was look at Mustang Steve's "build your own Rally Pac" thread trying to see if I could make that work, but this looks like a much better solution. Mine will be going in my son's car so it's definitely budget sensative...

That's something. I had mine made for use with Autometer gauges around 2001 out of aluminum before they came out with aftermarket ones, but yours looks fantastic. It will look great in your car. Great job!

Anyone with a low profile Rally Pack able to draw one up in a cad application like Solid Works?? I love this thread, but prefer the Low Profile. I have trying to get one cut and thought I would take a swing at getting some help on the drawings??

Is anyone here familiar with Techshop? http://www.techshop.ws/ They have a half dozen or so locations around the country. You purchase a membership and take a $30 safety class for whichever piece of equipment you intend to use. They have 3D scanners and printers available!
