Home battery storage

B67FSTB

The NorCal dude from Belgium
Should anybody ask what I am doing lately...well , building a 14.3 Kw home battery storage system for my son.
I did install this last year in my own home. I used the Multiplus II from Victron together with their Cerbo GX communicationmodul and a DIY 48V battery with bms.
The same setup is going to my sons house.
This time I try to build it cheaper then mine.

You're an amazing guy Bruno. When you're finished with that I have some jobs for you....
Amazing ? No , just a simple guy who tries or think he can do lots of things. My handicap is that I am interested in lots of things whether I can do it or not.

What jobs ?? For a bed and 3 meals a day I will come over and help you out !!! But I am unfamiliar with kangeroos !!!

OK. While Mike is travelling (again) through the states and Canada , I did some home improvements.
Beside a solarplant of 4.5Kw and another of 2.8Kw, I decided to put one on the roof. Now 6Kw.
30 anchorpoints had to be mounted on the roof so the rails could be attached to.
I have a roof with a 45° angle. Thats steep !
Now I have to wait till the weather gets better to get the panels up.

Yes Bruno is amazing at these projects. Just don't ask him for directions while traveling.;):D

Geez, I simply store my batteries in a kitchen cabinet. No need for banks that take up an entire room....

Saturday was a very nice day to put up the solarpanels.
Had all the help from my son Timothy.

And NO ! I was not sunbathing !!! For all you wise a$$....

This installation , 12x435w panels , 48v charger cost me about 1800€.
Anchorpoint (30) and rails ( 30m) and wiring I already had laying around.
Lets say 2000€ in total.
Its difficult to explain a law that subsidize every pv installation in the periode 2006 -2013.
It comes down to , we get 450€ for every 1000Kwh a pv installation produced and our power meter turns backwards.
And thats for the next 20 years!
My 4.320 Kw installation from 2009 and my 2.88Kw installation from 2012, till now , brings me 27.000€ in earnings.
Installations did cost me 9000€ in 09, 3000€ in 2012.
And I didn't have any electricity bill for 15 yrs now.
From this year on we have a digital meter that registrate consumption and injection on the net.
So consumption is about 33cents and injection is about 7 cents.
From this year on we have to pay for electricity.
But having a home battery system of 14.3Kw ( self made 5000€) , I save on electricity bill ( compare to the previous yrs of 2009 , I will save 1000€) and having a A/C or heatpump , I also need less heating oil. 1000L less/ year. So I save another 1000€ per year on heating oil.
All this is about 19.000€ installation costs, but so far I got 27.000€ . Thats 8.000 profit. For now.
The next 5 years I get another 9.000€ of subsidize money.
And besides all that , I love to do that. Keeps me sharp. Kind of hobby.
I don't have the money to built a race car and going to race tracks .
