That top picture was photoshopped. Look at the shadow (or lack thereof) and the smoke.

On the flipside.... notice that the suspension appears to be fully unloaded. The only way that can happen is if the car is on jackstands.... or airborne.

I don't know guys.

Look at shadow under the car and the shadow of the trees.

I've been wrong many times before.

One of the things I have always looked at on that photo is the angle of the "hill" the car is topping. I am not sure the "hill crest" would allow that kind of ground clearing jump within the speeds the car could be doing. I have done some serious flying over hills on Iowa roads and it takes a heck of a lot of speed and a sharp drop to become airborne. Also, my testing was not scientific...........

I'm now overanalyzing this.

Like Dave said, the front is unloaded. However, going back to the smoke, he's also still got his foot in it while airborne. My cynical side (and I do have some photoshop skills myself) looks at that and thinks you could get the same stance launching on the drag strip, ie, light front end, heavy acceleration with smokey exhaust. This combined with the shadow and the crest of the hill again don't lend itself well to my thinking its a real photo.

That said, if it was photoshopped, the process of keeping the smoke from the original picture and overlaying it to that background, or adding the smoke, is quite a detailed task. If they went to that trouble, they'd probably know to add the shadow too. So from that perspective, it adds to it being real.

I'm still leaning towards photoshop'd, but going back to the forum the pic was pulled from, and the topic discussed, I don't know what would be gained by posting a photoshop'd picture.

Maybe its real after all.

You're assuming that the car launched in a forward direction.... the crest of the hill looks to be enough if he launched in reverse.

From Sam:

Sam, notice the tree in the reflection of the cars rear glass. I assume it to match perfectly with the base of the tree barely seen on the left of the car.

Maybe our shadows fall a different way to yours.
This is in the Adelaide Hills in South Australia

Well, that explains why the car is off the ground so easy......it is falling of the earth being down there.......
