JULY 17, 2023! :
Well - things were stalled for about a year - work work work - foster a kid - more puppies. ugh. Well, I took two weeks off. I just completed week 1 - and am about to embark on week 2.
the first 2 week 'vacation' since 2011. (i am a dull boy).
The goal - get the thing at least started! Maybe driving if I get lucky.
First up - plumb and activate the Street or Track brakes!
Then,
Dug out my now 10 year old TCP super motor mounts/frame brackets:
Then - FINALLY - plant the Prestige Motorsports sooper dooper 427 windsor stroker into it's nest!
I was sooooo happy! It looks sooooo good!. I can almost hear it now!

One weird note. I bought the TCP front end in (i think) 2005. Its in this thread somewhere. I noticed that the bushings on the varishocks looked weird. I touched them and they disintegrated. WTF! they have been sitting in place - in my shop for all these years. Luckily I was able to order replacement bushings from Chris Alston's. I ordered 2 sets - so i can replace the ones I have been driving on in my 65 for 16 years. So strange:
Its like some Lab Grown Chinese Polyurethane Eating Virus attacked them. (LGCPEV+) for short.
Also - test fitted the radiator:
Looks like battery is heading to the trunk:
Well - that's the update for now. Back to the garage!

well - right at the end of last week's vacation, I installed the FPA headers. These are simply the best fitting long tube headers i have ever seen. there is a small interference with the TCP Rack Steering shaft, but it looks like I can adjust that out with rack placement and a slightly longer d-shaft.

As you may have seen earlier in this thread, I had an issue with the Scott Drake Spindles being recalled, and then later an attempted ebay scamming by some idiot named mustangmanbob. Well, a member on here sold me a set of factory spindles that i finally put in the blasting cabinet to prep for install. They look great!

The Tranny is in!!!! The headers came with a note saying use the ron morris adjustable motor mounts! Its TRUE! I had forgotten and installed the motor with my TCP motor mounts. The sector shaft for the rack interfered with the header. I was bummed for a min.
But - everything fits perfect. the Tremec TKX is the perfect fit for the tunnel!!!!!

Some Progress:
Built the rear center section. 3.55 gears, Eaton TrueTrac 31Spline Clutchless locking Diff. Carrier housing from a 1970 F150.
I was able to use my original driveshaft, which i had had refinished and balanced 20 years ago. It cleaned up well. Had to use the 1330X universal to get into the supplied slip yoke with the tkx - easy peasy!
the lines came out good with very little futzing....

OK! THIS WEEKEND I MADE FIRE. I AM SHOUTING BECAUSE I AM NOW DEAF. and extraordinarily HAPPY.
After a near 23 year silence, my green machine has spoken. It was a very emotional experience.

Other events,
got the DS door glass in with the new regulators and wing window.
got the old 88 mustang Inertia Switch for the fuel pump wired in! There is a problem somewhere, as i had to manually power the fuel pump. That's for tomorrow.
Also pictured is the little holley fuel pressure regulator - and - i had to forgo my favorite little thing about the 67 - the washer fluid bag. space now being used by Power Steering reservoir and the hydralic clutch resevoir......

This was the first actual self propelled movement:
Includes me finding the freshly bled hydraulic clutch.
I was surprised that the power brakes worked. I was not expecting that with this engine.

Also - I responded into another thread regarding the Scott Drake repro pop-open gas cap. It would not stay closed. Side by side comparison with the factory original revealed that the casting of the repro
was preventing the cap from being positioned correctly within the scope of the fixture (close enough to the top for the teeth to engage) . I used a wizard wheel to grind away enough material from the base to allow the cap to be positioned properly. this fixed the problem completely and I am quite happy with the result...

mall bits of progress this weekend. the back of the car is now wired and complete. leaving only the dash. I found the TCP monte carlo bar I had bought a decade or more ago, so I mocked that up and got it installed. It looks good.
I did mention that the washer bag space had been seconded to the various tanks. I bought a second radiator overflow tank and will use that in place of the washer bag. Not as cool - but the three cans are a good look. (IMHO)....
The classic auto air care package arrived. Had planned on getting at least the condenser in and the grill installed this weekend - but the grill pieces arrived damaged - so I took it easy......
