302 shorty headers, exhaust pipe?

Hi y'all(Good eeeeevening), I'm thinking of going with stock shorty headers, but will a store bought stock "off road" exhaust x-pipe work with the 302/T5 setup? (when I get it running someday, just like to have an "exhaust") I had flaming river long tube hedman headers, but looking for more room for either hydraulic slave cylinder or cable clutch system, perplexed on one vs the other.
or advice, opinions, all welcome;)

Old system with a C4 transmission: darned long tube headers take up a lot of space.
 
Frankly I never liked shorty headers. I prefer long tubes and my 289 T5 67 coupe has long tubes headers and an H pipe.

The work around was the hydraulic clutch. It is awesome and you use anything you want for exhaust.

Besides the long tubes with H pipe sound awesome!

THanks Mel, I'll keep thinking about the hydraulic system, just that the power booster seems to create a lot of issues mounting:(
 
No power booster for the clutch. There is a small remote reservoir on the firewall and a small master cylinder where the clutch pedal is on the engine side of the firewall. The rest are just lines.

They feel better than any other type of clutch and free you up under the hood quite a bit.

Once more, there is no big booster.

Mine is in the air right now or I wold get pics. I'll look on my phone and see if I have pics.

Well, I was talking about fox body headers, but this was all revolving around what clutch activator I was going with. Looks like I'll be going hydraulic and that means I can use my existing long tube headers, at least for a while. The hedman long tube headers were designed to use with the Flaming river rack/pinion, about the only headers that will work, except for the stock shorty headers. If on the fateful day when I start my engine, and blows a lot of flood water out, I may think about what other exhaust at that time. Right now, I'm using what's on it. ;)
