Here's how I install the "Small Case" 95A 3G Alternator, with "internal regulator" but leave the original factory Voltage Regulator in place, modify it to be a "dummy", preserving the original wiring, warning light or Ammeter function. In the original Alternator Harness you'll USE the heavy gauge wire (typically YELLOW) to connect to the Alternator Output terminal ("BAT"), usually RED in color, trim the Alternator Field wire, usually WHITE in color and connect to the "ASI Harness" "I" wire, typically LGR/RED in color (I'd recommend a crimped butt-splice covered with shrink tube) and, if the gauge cluster had/has a warning lamp, cut the ring end from the original Stator wire, usually WHI/BLK in color, terminate the cut end with some shrink tube and tape inside the harness loom as it's no longer used.
Note that the modification to the original Voltage Regulator for Ammeter installations includes a 560 Ohm resistor in the jumper wire. This is to replace the original resistance in the Voltage Regulator that was provided to "load" the exciter circuit.
