Windscreen

I bought a Windshield for my 67 about 3 years ago from NPD.

I took it out of the box last week to prep for install and check that it is ok and was pretty pissed to find that on the lower drivers side the laminate is failing. Air is getting between the two sheets of glass and has created an unsightly map/bubble. I had a windscreen specialist look at it and he said it cannot be repaired.

I also ordered that screen with the blue sun shade which i don't like at all so i am going to order a new one.

Where is the best place to buy glass on the east coast or go with NPD again?

Don't you find one in Ireland ????

I called a local glass company and they are very expensive and they can only get the glass with the blue sun shade.

I have a container leaving from the US soon so its no problem for me to ship a new windshield.

I called our local Allstate Glass store here and was quoted $99 dollars for a new PPG windshield. That was with or without the blue strip at the top. This also did not include installation, just a store pick up of the glass.

That's a good price. I wonder would they ship it to PA for me?

johnny,

thats a pretty standard "glass only" charge over here. i would see if there is someone here thats close to your container site in pa that could check the local shops in the area. i'm sure that a local shop would crate one up & possibly deliver to the container site. shipping crated glass gets expensive. when i worked at the glass shop i've seen $100 windshields cost upwards of $400 to have shipped in.

Good idea. I'll call my contact in PA and find out his local car glass shop.
