Who supplies a good carpet kit?

2029192481.Jpeg

Sorry, couldn't help myself.

I bought mine at the same time we were doing my floor pans so it's been a couple of years but I believe I ended up ordering mine from Virginia Classic.

Looked pretty nice and fit well after a little bit of trimming.....

After talking with my upholsterer, the aftermarket kits are worthless after a year or so. He mentioned that he's had Corvette and different Chevy owners come in with the same complaints that we Mustang owners have: carpet too thin, fading, etc. etc.

All aftermarket kits? :sad

AFAIK until the last couple of years, there were two companies that supplied carpet kits for Mustangs, ACS and ACC. Though some thought the ACS kits were of a higher quality than the ACC kits, I can't see any real difference. The point however is moot as ACC bought out ACS this there is but one choice in precut kits that I know of. Consider finding a higher quality carpet material from a trim shop and make or have made a set to fit your car. My main complaint with ACC and ACS is the "frizzing" that occurs almost from the day you install the kit. Eventually it looks like a mangy dog (or cat). Anyone have any better news on this one??

That's what I asked him and evidently it's not just Mustang carpet kits. I explained what others' experiences have been and it sounded like the exact same thing.

I got mine from NPD. I think they have 3 grades, and I got the one supposedly the best. A raylon mix something or other. It fit ok, but you can see the white plastic backing between the rows of loops. There was also little white pieces of the plastic backing on the face of the carpet that I haven't cut out yet. I thought it would vacuum off but its stuck to it pretty good. Kind of annoyed about that but its only in a couple spots so I'll deal with it and remove it.

Thanks all for such discouraging news :cry But it was exactly what I was expecting. I will say that the carpet I got for Red was easy to install and have never had any frizzing or fading problems. Maybe I should find the receipt of it to see what I bought and from whom.

At this point I really don't plan to go custom carpeting but won't rule it out completely.

My carpet has been in my car for almost two years with no issues....still looks pretty good.

I figure worse case, carpet is cheap and doesn't take very long to install so if I had to put in new carpet every four years or so that would be the least of my worries.
