The group numbers that they list don't match up at all with 24 or 27. Which Optima red top matches up to the group 24 size?

Since the question got lost, for you guys with Optima's, which one fits the group 24 box up front?

I bought a black battery from Kragen/O'Reilly's, peeled their black decal off the and placed a large "Autolite" on instead.

I'd just compare dimensions to make sure it will fit. Here's the chart for std battery types & dimensions. Compare with the Optima dimensions, and you're good to go.

The 34/78 Optima fits ok in my battery tray. It's a little loose at the bottom, but with the riser plate it comes with, the top hold down keeps it from moving. Better than having battery acid all over the place, eating out the already existing hole in the inner fender.

34/78 for me as well and agree, it's not a tight fit but the holddowns keep it in place.

Nope, money talks and I wanted it black :lol Since I use a similar battery in Red, I feel comfortable using one in Shag.
