What year / color Mustang should Beach Pony get?

I've lost a lot of sleep this past couple weeks since Ronnie sold his Vert, worrying about what his next Mustang will / should be. What should he get? What will his better half be happy riding in, besides a red Ferrari driven by a very rich young stud?

I guess verts are out so that leaves us with what? And then how stock or modified?

OMG! what color should it be?
 
I will say, a 68 coupe in almost any color would be sweet. I assume he's going for a rig that has already been restored, so he can immediately jump in and cruise.
 
I can see BP in a nice Playboy Pink coupe, can't you?
 
If he is the type that really likes to wash, wax, polish and shine... I'd recommend black. Otherwise, not so much.
 
Alright, looks like I need to get you meatheads straight. Don't know where you came up with the ideas of going after a totally restored car, but that's not in the cards.

The wife and I have talked at great length as to what we felt was best for us at this point and because we need to make some improvements to our home like a roof and some interior renovation, our Mustang buying budget is very tight so finding a restored car within our budget is most definitely OUT of the question. It looks as though I will again begin learning how to restore a nasty looking raggedy ass ole car that will need a whole lotta love. Maybe I can get Mr. Maynard to come out with his welder and teach me a thing or two. :nwort

What year you say? Interesting. Back in the day, Ms. Pony, my wife use to own a 1973 Grande back when she was 16 and would love to have another one. To me, a Mustang is a Mustang so why not? I bet I can find a real fixer upper for pennies if I spend enough time looking. At this point, my budget is max $6500.00 + freight. So, keep an eye out for me and if any of you jacklegs see anything, drop me a note.

Color? - Maybe a lime gold, however, as I have tried to include my wife more in this hobby I may have to succumb to her ideas of color and as far as she's concerned, her favorite color is purple! UGH!!!

Anyways, back to reality guys. Can't afford a total restored pony and I'm dying to learn how to weld, etc. What can I say? Looks like this years MBB will leave me driving the late model pony while the newest addition will be hibernating in the garage waiting to be re-born.

No disrespect to the 71-73 family but Ronnie, I thought you were going to stay in the 65-68 range since you just sold a 66. Jumping from a 66 to 73 is like going from a 49er cheerleader to a..........Dallas cheerleader. You don't do that. Please tell us you are joking around.

Come on Craig, getting a Dallas Cowgirl cheerleader over a SF 49ers cheerleader would be like getting a night with Carrie Underwood instead of Ru Paul. Or some filet mignon instead of some flap steak.
 
Seriously Ronnie, do you want me to walk the streets tonight to raise the funds for a nicely restored 67 / 68 coupe? It'll only be an hour or two of my time. Heck of a lot cheaper than flying me out on h00ter airlines with my welder.

It's like I said when I sold the vert. I really want to share this hobby more with my wife. If in doing so I try to accommodate her then that's what it will be. Happy wife, happy life. Who knows. I'm just trying to share the fun.
 
If it's a '73 coupe you're interested in, it makes findin' ya one a lot easier!! BTW Ron, kinda freaky ironic, but when I first ran across this thread yesterday I was thinkin' a lime gold '68 coupe for ya! If Brenda would be happy with a lime gold '73, I betcha we can make that happen!
 
Thanks John. I'll sit with her tomorrow and look at the possibility of looking into this one.

You're gonna get a big ole cyber slap from me if you keep going the direction you seem to be heading. Even if it's a fixer upper, get a 67 or 68. You'll love the size and it will fit in your garage easier than one of those aircraft carriers.
