What would you do with $200?

I'd buy the Master Parts Catalog on CD, along with the CD Manuals for 71, 72, and 73 so I could better understand their crazy electrical/wiring diagrams.

Midlife is done. If I had to buy for Midlife, I'd get a new front bumper, but I don't think the quality is there yet for repro's. I'd also try and find some yahoo to refurbish my underdash harness...*G*

I have a friend (whose name I would never give out, lest someone beat me to it) who has a set of gently used Koni's sitting on his shelf. He offered me 200 for them, but I am in serious "Must get out of debt" mode, and 200 dollars is not something I have to freely put into the car. I would snatch those boogers up in a second! I might just have to reduce our next cc payment a couple hundy and go pick those up, because if I miss that deal, I will cry.

fine Dave!
id go to the local casino turn the 200 into 300 and then id buy some new rear tires because i have some big gashes on the side walls from the tires rubbing

fine Dave!

Thank you. See how this is working? I didn't realize you had the gambling gift (like me) and that your rear tires were gnarled up.... or that it was possible for someone to want a set of shocks so badly....

If I came into $200 that I wasn't expecting, I'd have my carb rebuilt. I can drive the car but have to ignore the hesitation, and really can't justify spending the money on it cause otherwise the car runs fine. I'ts something I can't do myself.

If my car were back on the road as planned by now I would upgrade my old '67 16 gal. tank with a '70 22gal. 37% farther before a fillup will take me along way on cross state trips I plan a few 350~500mi trips every few months. With the AOD and at least 20mpg that's a difference of 120 mi. and stopping at 300mi. to fill up or over 400. I could go farther than any of my 3 'newer' cars ('04, '05, '09). Not needed at this point but something I will use in the future.

If i had $200 bucks i buy enough vinyl and aluminum, to finish my interior. I made my last set of seat coverings, and there is somethings i could do better, I also am in the progress of making a custom console, and trying to figure out how to mold it is becoming expensive and difficult.

Did I do ok Dave?

Perfect boss! I've been trying to talk my cheapass son into buying a new carb ever since his Eddy malfunctioned, spraying fuel all over the engine compartment and IGNITING at a stoplight. We went through that POS and although it's running "okay", I still wish he'd replace it. Your choice of carbs looks to be a good one and I may re-apply some pressure for him to plunk down some coin.

Due to my recent carburetor experiences, how 'bout a wide band air/fuel meter?

However, this purchase probably should be *after* you get that new carb.

Roller Perches....get rid of that 44yo stiff crap
LED Taillights....ditto

oh and a Jack on the rocks! :kaid

I would temporarily invest the $200 dollars into a short term CD while I continue to build my funds for an AOD (maybe AODE) upgrade. It's a MUST upgrade for my '70. The current C4 (which is a beast of a tranny though) is great for city driving, but I NEED the over drive for highway use. I'm afraid turning 4K on the highway could result in premature wear on my engine.

interesting thread Dave. I like the question. I have so many things yet I "want" to do to my driver. Probably the next thing I really need is a new header gasket on the drivers side (annoying exhaust leak), probably get the copper kind cuz this is the second set already! Then I have all the parts to instal the power steering but I need new hoses and probably should rebuild the valve and cylinder first, so I would spend it on that. My Car was a PS car and still has the PS gearbox. Without the PS assist it is a real PIA in parking lots and such. I drove my dad's 66 the other day, it's a factory non PS car and it felt like it had PS compared to mine. Also I need to finish grinding and paint the original rear bumper so I need some paint and supplies for that. I want wider tires and wheels, Koni shocks, and on and on I could go but if I only had $200, I start with the PS and header gaskets!

I would use it to buy some forged dish pistons for the new 331 Boss block engine I have started to build. I have a forged scat crank and H beam rods so I just need to get the pistons and block. You know, buy some performance parts that I need like an extra hole in the head. :gs

I'd add the $200 to my speeding ticket fund, in the off chance I actually get to drive the damn thing...

I go through the same thing every time I get a bonus. Which is rare these days.

Right now I would probably put it towards a bump steer kit, since I am sick of playing chicken with on coming traffic every time I hit a pothole!!! :roulette
