What would you change on this interior?

Since the car is getting a new personality, I thought I should make some changes to the interior as well. Thinking of some Fiero seats (having a very hard time finding a pair), new gauges and '67 Aluminum dash trim.

What would you do?

I've got a pair of Bullitt seats.....you can even get white seat covers for them now which you could dye to match the green interior.

I have the 67 brushed aluminum in my 68 and like it allot.

I would add tilt steering, factory tach dash cluster, and a mini console for new gauges or a touch screen with GPS.

My 68:

I like it the way it is, but...where did you get the shifter boot and chrome bracket? Does the boot put any forward or backward pressure on the shifter? Do you like it?

Honestly nothing. If you had to change something I do like the idea of losing the column tach and getting it into the cluster.

That's a nice interior. Since you're asking for opinions, I'd install a factory console and hide the humphugger whenever the car is parked or there is a remote chance someone will see it :roll (not a fan of them). I've also seen a '67 or '68 with a '69 or '70 console and it looked outstanding.

Thanks Nick, I have never been a fan of stock Mustang seats of any variety, I just don't find them comfortable.

I bought both from NPD, I have never noticed any pressure from the boot on the shifter. I like it quite a bit.

The car had a console in it when I bought it but it was in such bad shape I took it out. The humphugger is there for storage only, it's functional but I agree it is not the best thing to look at.

Nick are you referring to 01 Bullitt seats? If so I might know someone interested in them.

The contour in the drivers seat bottom, apparently you haven't been planting your butt in it enough. Seriously nothing it looks great now quit procrastinating and get it back together. :))

Agree on moving the tach to inside the console. Not a fan of Humps either but they are practical.

As for your wanting Fiero seats. I must tell you that they have very little if no bottom seat padding. Also they are meant to sit low, very low so I'm not sure about the bracketry you might need.

I think the stock seats are part of the classic look that I appreciate.

Fiero seats are very close to a bolt it, actually. I welded carriage bolts to the standard Fiero seat framework so that the bolts(studs now) dropped right through the stock mounting holes in the pan. They do hang a bit off the back of the riser and I intend to weld in a triangular support piece for each rail prior to laying in the carpet...someday.
By my measurement, (the way I mounted mine) they sit at the same height as stock seats. I find them to be more comfortable than stock. Certainly they give better side support. They also fit width-wise very much like stock seats as far as space between the door and hump.

I have the stock seats and I don't find them "uncomfortable" but they don't offer the support of the newer cars. I am thinking of getting a TMI kit. I think Rick did that on his. Your car looks great as others have said. If you want the "original" look, the TMI kit might be a way to go.
John's car is so cool, I like all the subtle touches. My car is pretty radical on the outside but pretty tame on the inside. I like my humphugger but I drive my car a lot so it's more practical than good looking.
this is an older picture but you get the idea, I added a factory tach to my original cluster and put an oil pressure gauge where the clock was.
