What did you get done on your Stang today????

I changed oil & filter, packed the wheel bearings and greased the front suspension. Checked and topped off all fluids. Checked and filled the air in all the tires including spare. I'm all ready for the 2012 Hot Rod Power Tour!!!
 
I topped my tank off (took $50.00) int eh 64 1/2 vert. Drove to a car sow in South Knoxville and after the show drove to Middlesboro with four other club member to attend the Crusin the Crater cruise in.

A one wheel burnout ......isn't a burnout :no :no :no

Both have to smoke ...then you can say i did a burnout :roll :roll :roll
 
Had a great day today, still block sanding. I have found 4 small dents in body that I have now corrected. Guide coat is a true life saver, I would have never seen these dents if not for the guide coat process. Now I need to prime the body again and then on to the doors, front fenders and deck lid. I hope I find few dents there. The one quarter I was worried about, the one I had to weld in a lower patch panel and fill the seam looks GREAT! I feared it would look wavy but looks very good.
 
in the time between coats (shot a bike today) i scraped & cleaned the undercoat out of one of my rear wheelwells. scraped what i could, then went over it with 3" scotchbrite rolocs in my angle grinder. what a pain in the a**! hoping to pull the rear this week, get it cleaned up, painted & the new rear discs mounted up..
 
I finished up my vacuum canister swap on the MSD distributor this morning before work. Finally.

The original vacuum can that came in the MSD is non-adjustable, and my engine with the cam it has wasn't generating enough vacuum to get full advance out of it. I replaced it with a Crane adjustable unit 99601-1.

The cam limiter that came in the kit wouldn't fit without modification, so I chose to fabricate a stop out of sheet metal.

I had to do a little more filing on the limiter plate after that pic was taken in order to have full clearance on everything. Set the timing this morning & just had enough time for a quick test drive to make sure there were no issues. Nothing blew up, fell off or caught on fire...
 
Finished my brakes. Nice pedal, no leaks, what more can you ask for? It now steers and stops. We're getting there.

Sorry I missed your question. Got the PM though! As I responded in the PM, they're not in....yet! I'm hoping they work out well per the reviews I've read from others that have tried them.
 
finished making my front to rear brake line & one of the fuel lines. also pulled the rear end & spent about 4 hours with a wire cup brush cleaning the underneath of the floors for paint. took 3 showers to get all of the mess off of me....
 
I dropped Gertrude off Wednesday to get her front alignment adjusted some more. Instead of just having to do some minor adjustments, they had to re-shim one side and when doing so, the one bolt & nut on the UCA that was messed up by previous alignment shop and this shop had to fix (cross threaded & couldn't come loose), well it got messed up again and last word I got Thursday afternoon was they were trying to hunt down a new bolt for the UCA.

Got word this morning from a friend that when he drove by the shop, he saw Gert still on the lift being worked on. I might get her back today so I can drive her to car club tonight. They don't close until 6pm so we'll see.
 
Kat, hope I remember wrong but i thought those bolts were splined to not rotate so they may have a hard time finding one. If you have an old UCA or someone local does you may want to supply them with that to tap a matching bolt out of another UCA. I have my old ones but being 3 states away doesn't help.

Located my doors today, getting ready to paint jambs!!! Looks like a car again.. Well for about an hour until I took the doors back off. Drilled locating holes in both hinges and the body to help locate the doors after jambs are painted.

Left quarter panel is off. Have to repair the lower part of the door jamb and fix some nasty rust holes in the inner structure.... it has rust holes just above where the roof and quarter meet. WTF?

painted the underside of the car fri, along with the rear end. fabbed up the brake lines for the diff today & after trips to 4 parts stores, finally found a center section gasket, so got that assembled & bolted back up. had to special order the axle gaskets, so have to wait a few days before i can put the axles in. whats up with these so called "parts stores"??? they didn't even know what a crush washer was! good thing i order an extra dozen to keep in stock when i ordered brake parts...also ordered my new wheels friday!!

well, kind of a bunch of reasons.. i wasn't really planning on doing all of this until the fall, but when i couldn't drive it due to the brake fluid evaporating from where it sat idle so long after the fire decided to put the new brakes on & it snowballed from there. i'm now in a hurry since i need the space to get back on the 36 ford thats been sitting idle for over a year now. i figure if i get everything underneath done now, i can work the bugs out & when the 36 is done, can pull it back in & paint the outer body.
