My first car was a 78 Camaro which I did a mini restore on. It was all I could afford as a kid. I test drove a few Mustangs but couldn't afford one worth having. The Camaro did its job and I sold it when I moved away to college.
In a way I am glad I didnt get a Mustang it might have consumed me and I wouldn't have studied as hard. Life worked out well.

Finally got to the hardware store and picked up the remaining pieces I needed for the alternator install. Once home I finished bolting it in place. Since I was in "wanna get something done" mode, I started tackling the remaining spring perch roller bearing conversion.
After working on it for a little while I got tired of tripping over everything scattered around the garage. I was finally so disgusted with empty boxes and tools scattered everywhere I stopped where I was. The rest of the day was spent straightening out the garage somewhat, getting rid of all of the empty boxes and finally getting all of my tools organized and back into the toolbox. I can almost see the top of my workbench now. The place isn't what you'd call clean or organized....but it's a TON better than it was!

Well its been 8 months since I got anything done on the car. Time to get out of my funk. I snuck out to the garage for an hour while the little squirt was napping.
I finally got the shift lever flipped up on the AOD.
Now how do I get the studs out of the shifter levers to hook up the rod between them?

I ripped the intake back off, cleaned it up and have the new gaskets drying in place under pressure. 8 million times I've had this engine apart and it's the first time the intake leaked when I put it back together.
I'm kinda' new at this multiple engine rebuilding thing....but isn't that a lot if you know what you are doing. :shrug"silverblueBP" said:

He's getting big Jake. Pretty soon he will be driving that stang. My little girl looks at my car everytime we go out to the garage and says there's daddy's mustang, it broken!

Getting the car on the road again has just been more satisfying than I expected. Today I learned to keep a good eye on the torque of the leaf spring u-bolt nuts. I was feeling a slight "yaw" to the handling as I got on and off the throttle in highway situations. At first I thought it may have been the tire pressure after having sat for a while. I returned home to check the tire pressure. I should have listened to my gut, the leaf spring u-bolt nuts had loosened up quite a bit, including one nut missing entirely!! I picked up some new nuts and hardened washers and torqued them down to 45 ft lbs per the Eaton website. I'll check them again tommorrow, as Eaton recommends doing so after the first 50 miles. Another lovely day BTW, this pic was taken within yards of the house where I lived after buying this car at 15 years old. One of the better views in the state, life is good. Cheers!!
