What did you get done on your Stang today????

well the backordered brake adjuster hardware finally showed up, and I found a little time to get the brakes installed on my rear end this weekend. Now at least the rear is ready to go back in the car when the time comes. New axle seals and bearings, new pinion seal, new wheel cylinders, brakes and drums. Topped it off with new fluid.

Not much I know, but it's one thing crossed off the looong list.

Since I had to work on my first normal day off, that left only today. Fortunately, gorgeous "workin' on the car" weather! :yah

I got the front and rear suspension all pulled. Since the whole rear end assembly had already been completed (except for running the brake lines), it was put aside and covered up. The only thing being salvaged from the front suspension are the coil springs and perches. Everything else is being replaced. I'm only lacking the brake hoses and one caliper. Only had a few problems (don't you always?!). Had troubles with the spring compressor fighting me and one of the cross member bolts broke off. Since the suspension was fully extended and there was very little compression on the springs, I unbolted everything, stood back and popped it loose. Not something I would recommend, but it got the job done with nothing broken...especially feet and toes!

Now onto final cleaning and painting of the underside so I can get it back on the ground!

WTG Bob!!

Maybe you need to plan a "meat" and work day...I just need to have Deb at home to watch the puppy all day.

Pete came over today to work on one of his cars. Meanwhile, he helped me with Mid's carb. We found gas pooling on top of the secondary throttle plates, indicating leakage of fuel in the secondary area even with the car simply idling. A number of symptoms are explained by this phenomena. I recently had the carb rebuilt; I'm in contact with the rebuilder.

Pulled ole Blue out of the garage and took Eleanor for a ride. It was a bad bad day as she let me down for the first time and quit, right in the middle of the road. Couldn't get her to start back so I ended up pulling her into the Trailer and strapped her down, where she can stay for the night. I was gonna ride the Fox a little but after the fight with Eleanor, I was pooped. Just wasn't my day.

got the last bits of the 45 year old undercoating off the inner fenders and got them cleaned up and ready for primer. I had been using a grinder and wire wheel on it, but saw them use a propane torch to heat it up and scrape it off on Chop Cut Rebuild and that worked awsome. Pulled the master cylinder and cleaned the firewall behind it, I think the firewall's just about ready for paint now. got the floorboard welds dressed and cleaned up. got the dash all apart so it's ready to sand and paint. It was a dirty but satisfying day.

I ripped the driver's seat upholstery the other day by wearing a cell phone on my belt. I called a local upholstery guy who will replace both the bottom and rear covers of the driver's seat for $55. I think that is a good price considering the hassles I've heard about doing this. Should be back Tuesday.

Yeah; but he was an hour late as he got lost trying to find my place...

Took both Red and Shag out for a drive over to Stanford University for a photo op.

Wow Craig. You can drive two cars at once.

Remote control helps. Today, drove Shag down to JeffTepper's place to pick some Meyer Lemons. As expected....a very uneventful drive but gave it a good exercise.

Got to do a little work on the car itself today and the front suspension. I got one of the b-pillar (sail panel, whatever term you prefer), patches cut and just about all formed and fitted before running out of daylight. After picking up outside I moved inside and got one of the spring perches bead blasted and the center shaft removed in preparation for the roller bearing install. I stopped there because it was getting close to supper time and so I could get the camera and shoot some pics later on. I didn't have it handy and figured I'd shoot some pics tomorrow evening as I progressed along. I have a "before" shot of the condition of my b-pillars so when I get the patches completed I'll shoot some "after" shots. Since it's all significant enough, I'll post them all to my build thread. It's nice to be making some forward progress again! :yah

It'll take forever with a wire wheel.

Heat it up with a heat gun then scrape it off with a puddy knife or some other form of scraper that you can keep flat and not dig into the metal.
