Wanna start a 70' fastback restomod

Hey quick question..... Is it possible to do a 70 front end on a 69? It looks similar but obviously different. I'm liking the side vents on the 69. Also just saw today a few streets away from me a blue 69 fastback in pretty good shape. Thinking about afforing the owner some cash for it. I'll snap some shots and post them, maybe u guys can help me figure a fair price for it.

I believe you can install a '70 ft end on a '69. For the look you're requesting, it's the fenders, headlight buckets and grill you'd need. The bumper and hood and valance will interchange.

Awesome :) ya I really like the vents on the sides of the 69 but like the front of the 70 better. Thanks for the reply..... Anyone have any pics of this done by any chance?

It's also a different hood edge trim. Mates with the 69 buckets - he will need the 70, specific, hood lip trip.

If you like the front end of a 70, then why not just buy a 70? IMO from the old world, adding different year parts on the final product will not only confuse others who look at your car, it cannot help the value when you ever decide to sell it. Yes, I know the old line of "But I'll never sell it". We've all been there.

Thanks for clearing that up, I like both 70 and 69, so I guess I'll buy which ever I find in best condition for the price. I snapped a couple shots of the 69 by my house, but can't attach them through the phone. I'll post them through the computer when I get home. The car actually looks very clean and stock, no visible rust from the outside at all.

That's kind of how I was when I was looking for a fastback. I like both the 67 and 68, but since so many of my local low life Mustang buddies have a 67, it didn't take me very long to make a statement and go for a 68. Now they all wish they owned a COTM let alone a COTY ride.

:thu :yah :bowdown

Maybe it's because I've been baby sitting this 70 boss 302, I personally would lean towards the 70. I also like the front end a tad more.

From an electrical point of view, the 1969's wiring is far superior to the 1970.

From a side window point of view, the 70 is far superior to the 69 design.

okay so i talked to the owner today and he's willing to let the car go but wants to see what its worth. He started the car for me..... took a minute but it fired up. its got a 351 cleveland in it with auto trans. After looking around a bit i did notice a little tiny bit of rust on the trunk and the front of the hood. He is the owner for the last 12 years and says the car has been sitting there for 4 years. He wanted to restore it but probably wont since he doesn't have room for it to work on. The inside looks kinda messy but everything looks about C+ id say.

So here is the car........ What do u guys think i should offer the guy and what do u think its worth

Heck a Cleveland? Go for it !! but seriously just two picks makes it very tough to put a value on it. 8k?

That's a total piece of junk, not worth even $500.

What's the address, name, and phone number?

What is his asking price ?? I would want to know that before I started offering any cash prices. Just from the 2 shots it looks pretty good to me.

If the floors are as good looking as the rest, look like a solid car. If he insists on you making an offer, make a low but reasonable one within your budget. I am always one for asking for the lower deal. It would be better to get an asking number from him first, then debate from there.

And, it is really hard for anyone to put a figure on iy. A running classic with a good body can go from $6-7000 and up based on what is seen as you dig around on the car. Restoring one to good condition would run a minimum of $15-20,000 with many spending close to $30,000 or more based on the type of restoration done and where the labor came from.

The floors look good. The little bit of rust that's on the surface is from the car sitting outside for 4 years. He was saying 4 years ago he almost sold it for $10k. I was thinking $8k since it does need work, but the body looks almost perfect.... No damage at all, not even little dents. He did say the motor runs bad in hot weather by the way. I guess I'll see in a couple days, he'll call me with what he wants for it. Thanks guys for all the help I appreciate it big time

I would not be scared to lay 8k out for that car if it's as decent and complete as it looks.

I was just looking at both of the front ends of the 69 and 70 and im trying to see why the 70 front wont fit the 69? Im talking about the whole front end, not just the fenders and lights. Am i not seeing something?

What you are not seeing is a apparently intact 1969 Mustang that a lot of people would love to have. It's just my .02, but if it were wrecked in the front and you had to replace everything anyway and really wanted the '70 front...why not? But to, IMO, basterdize a perfectly good '69 is just painful to think about. I know,I know .."it's your car so do what you want with it" I'm just sayin'. :wtf
