used dash pad advice

not liking my repop dash pad and found this used one somewhat locally, couple hours away, here's a comment from the seller

It is currently still mounted to a dash assembly that I am selling seperately. I took a couple of close ups of the defroster area. It is not spit or anything, it has just let go a little from the core frame underneath in this area. It could probably be glued back down in place if you clamped it while the epoxy dried.

It is not perfect, but considering it is original, it is in pretty good shape.

( Dark spot is actually a clean area. It is very dusty. )

here's a couple of pic's, do you think this could be fixed so it's not noticed.

Being original, it doesn't look bad at all. As long as there isn't any warring or cracking, I'd say go for it.

fixing the vent area should be easy ? :)

a couple more pics

Did you buy the ford tooling repop? If not I'm not surprised your displeased. Non Ford tooling repops don't fit well at all generally.

+1

I bought a dashpad direct or direct dashpad which apparently is from some Ford tooling. Yes, it took a little trimming along the windshield and front dash trim but I am very happy with it.

yes it's a direct dash, the fit is terrible, I have trimmed it, the eyebrows droop down and the grain is very heavy,

It's my understanding the Ford tooling for 67-68 dash pad no longer exists. The pad from Dashes Direct is all that is available in the aftermarket and it does miss the mark. I have one and am disappointed with the quality, but live with it.

Shape wise it looks pretty good. Gotta be careful with the old vinyl, could crack or split on removal or install. They can become brittle with age....
