I'm home from work today, and was out in the garage taking care of some misc stuff on the fastback. I was underneath the car installing the speedo cable, and needed a ratchet which was up on the inner fender since I had just finished the steering column replacement.

I crawled out from under the car, and jumped up, doing one of those moves where you push yourself up and snap your legs under you to plant your feet and shift your weight. I've gotten up that way for years, and today it didn't work. Something in the lower back didn't like that. I thought to myself, gee, I can't do that anymore, and then got back down on the floor to crawl back under the car. I never made it. In the process of getting back on the floor I realized something was amiss and I was done. I laid on the floor until my wife happened by and then she went and got a neighbor who helped me up.

I'm on the couch now rehydrating, medicating, icing, and not working the fastback.

I get to watch backyardigans with my 4 year old so its all good.

Welcome to reality. After years of abuse the condition of my back (among other things) is on a rapidly decending spiral. I used to bend over to pick things up without a care in the world, now, unless it's really important, I just sort of kick things into a pile and wait for one of the kids to come along and hand them up to me. They're closer to the ground anyway.

Crap. Why didn't I think of that? Wait. he's two. Those piles are gonna get big.

Well, my lovely wife just brought me a "slushy." I have to take back the term I used earlier, ie "hydrating," as one of the flavors that I recognize in my "slushy" is an ingredient known to dehydrate rather than hydrate. Its one of my favorite flavors too.

Or your years in gay porn. Guess we'll never know. :dumas

Not at all, that wasn't me, you must be thinking of somebody else, or of yourself.

(That's the old deny, deny, counter-accuse trick)

BTW, the back is worse today than it was yesterday. I'm going to have to look up somebody local to go see. I don't think I can even get in my car like this.

I find it odd that you would know who is on the gay porn sites...(well, maybe not).....I would never be able to accuse anyone of being there....just sayin'.... :nk

Sam,
Could it possibly be your sciatic nerve? Lower back off to one side. If that's the case just take it easy for a couple days. It's a major PIA and can really limit what you can do. It will ease up in about 4 days. I go through this about twice a year.
