Thoroughbred GT full floor

Doubt many of you remember me from VMF, I started my restoration back in Nov 2006. After several starts and stops and a looooong hiatus to start a family, the kids are becoming more self sufficient and I'm finding more time to work on the car again. During the down time, I came to the sad realization that every piece on the floor needed replacement or patch work. Conveniently, also during this time, a resto shop in Ohio started making and shipping full floors.

I'm excited to start working on the car again and thought you guys might like to follow along as I fumble my way through a full floor replacement.

I picked up the floor Saturday from a local freight depot. It fits nicely on the frame jig that I built using the dimensions of my original floor. Taking that as a good sign to start.

Very cool pics. Did you build that stand that's it's sitting on in the last pic?

Nice looking, I'm pretty sure I remember you, you live in the Northern Virginia area?

I'm confused by the Thoroughbred designation. Is that what you're calling the car, because a Thoroughbred restoration cannot use reproduction parts.

A few days ago I stumble on this : http://www.benl.ebay.be/itm/29086044477 ... 1423.l2649
looks like the same company ?? Greenville Ohio.

here is their site : http://www.vintagepartsclub.com/servlet ... One/Detail

I also have a 67 convertible , bought 20 years ago , but never ended the restoration because I figured the body was from two different cars and it is about 1/2 inch too short in the dooropenings.
I ddin't want to put that car together if the measurements weren't right.
I'm also thinking about buying a complete floor but afraid of the transportation costs.

To Silversport : any change I can have the measurement of that jig ? PM me if you will.

Laurie, I think these are body parts manufactured by a company in Ohio, here it is:

Oh, okay, that makes sense, thanks!

Buckeye Restoration d.b.a. Thoroughbred GT assembled and painted the floor at their shop in Ohio.

I did build the frame jig -- using dimensions from the original floor. I also have a similar frame under the remaining body (as well as bracing to make up for the missing roof). The two frames connect together when everything is lined up.

B67FSTB, I can take some measurements.

$1375 to my doorstep but without 6% import tax and above that 21% regular tax :rr

even with all the taxes that price seems reasonable compared to replacing all the floor components one piece at a time. I would need to see more detail in how to separate the body from the floor and keep it all in one piece! that could be the tough part.

$1375 for shipping alone !

$2600 + $1375 = $3975 plus 6% = $4213 plus 21% = total $5100 to my doorstep :rr

I still think it is not too terribly bad. You can rack up that cost in shop labor and replacement sheet metal awful fast here in the states. Now if you are able to do all the metal work yourself, then the price may be a bit high. No doubt you are used to paying higher than average costs for keeping American muscle running in Europe!
