A couple days ago our Kenmore clothes washer crapped out. No longer would it spin. All I could hear some spining or grinding sound. Thought it might simply be a belt. Turned it over and it is a beltless setup, thus based upon the age, wife and I decided to shop for a new one. Wow! $400 - $1100 ????

:wtf

Almost took the plunge this morning but then thought "what if infact it was a simple repair????". Googled Kenmore series 80 troubleshoot". 2nd link I clicked on attached below. Check out the 4th reply and especially the video they provided. Went to the parts store and spent a whopping $16 for the coupler. Rushed home, brought the lap top out to the garage, turned on the video and in 40 minutes, it was back and running.

As a matter of fact, last time was just yesterday! The range top had problems with a burner and then the power light was staying on with all the switches off. Burner connector fried and toasted a switch. $60 in parts to fix versus several hundred for a new range!

Yup, did the same thing with our furnace a week or so ago. The burner wouldn't stay lit, and kept cycling. After a few minutes of searching, I found out it was the flame sensor, that needle looking thing in front of the burner. Took it out and gave it a scrub with steel wool, and done.

$80 and a youtube video got my dryer up and running again. Without the net I would have needlessly torn the thing apart looking for the heating element. It was behind the front panel held by 2 clips and 2 screws.

I do this (use the internet) to fix or add capabilities to things all the time. I fixed our water softener, TV, Truck and now repairing the camera SWMBO dropped and broke to replace the LCD display on the back of it.

Good job!

WooHoo! Internet rocks...most anything can be done on it...in fact, I bet the original poster on the 2005 Kenmore 80 thread, Elly, is no longer single as she had stated in the thread. I bet it fixed that too!
