Suggestion for a new monthly feature. POTM

Car of the month is great for those who have a completed project, but how about a category for those of us who are in the middle of a build? How about a POTM Part of the Month for those of us that are in the middle but have a part that we are so proud of that we want to announce it to the members??

Just a thought since so many of our projects are a WIP. So what do you guys say!?

We have done that in the past in lieu of COTM.

I'm all for it. The main problem with COTM and POTM seems to be participation. Putting a page or thread together with gobs of pictures and descriptions can be pretty tedious.

Not saying it's not worth the effort, but it is a little disappointing to see 20 or so voters show up to vote.

Of course, if someone with mad photoshop skillz and a little php/html knowledge volunteered to spearhead POTM or COTM and make it their baby, it would undoubtedly happen.

I'd love to help, but my knowledge of PHP/HTML is limited to thinking it sounds like some kind of an illness. What are the symptoms and is there a cure?

Php/html knowledge would be limited to basic embedding and linking code. The portal we use has a page/article capability that provides the template and only requires simple html coding.

I'd be more concerned with one's photoshop skills. Said individual should have the ability to cleanly remove backgrounds and produce transparencies.

As Sluggo said they did a POTM just 1 or 2 months ago, I'm sure it'll repeat at least 2X/yr. ZFORCE, do you have a thread going in the 'Member's Build Thread'?

It's a good way to keep everyone updated on your progress, gets a lot of hits and replies. I'm guilty of not starting mine yet as my progress is so slow, but whose isn't? Everytime you update it'll get pushed TTT.
Just a suggestion,
Jon

Sluggo: I think the original poster is not asking for a In-Progress Car of the Month, but a Part of the Month. I would think our membership is large enough and skilled enough to build parts themselves: consoles, four-link rear ends, radiator fan shrouds, etc. I do believe profiling fabrication skills is what was meant here.

I think he's talking about part of the restoration, at what part the restoration is at, would be build thread of the month. great idea!

but cotm would be better with a separate thread, with the vote, info and pictures of the cars.

:seperate from the nominee thread

For COTM, we, as semi normal participants around here, would pm a selected moderator with the nominations.....limit as needed. Post to open nominations and again to close them. Once the nominations are filled, said moderator would post the required pictures in a voting post. To be nominated......said member must have pics on here so moderator does not have to hunt them down or ask for them. Person doing the nominating could provide link to pics. This way, the nominations would be unknown even to the nominees until the vote post is up.

No, I will not be a mod........

yes, an open nomination thread, nominee can include pic's or nomintaed can add some, than mod picks and moves separate to a pic and vote thread.

Yes, Midlife, that is exactly what I meant. Part of the month, either self fabricated or maybe just purchased and installed! Maybe the winner could even post additional pics or do a write up...Sorry for any confusion. Not trying to make more work, just a suggestion.

I have no thread, as my project has not been started. I just finished building my pool, and I would not let myself play with the Mustangs until it was done. All I need now is some grass in the back yard and then it's Mustang time!

My build thread would like like this minus the rat poop and jumping cactus:

Yes, that was the condition of my engine compartment when I bought Dirty Harry!

Oh yeah, a picture of my pool, seven long years in the making, to comport with the rules, (post a picture or it didn't happen.)

I forgot how nice the pack rats were since we left Az. I remember seeing that one before and have had regular drivers look like that over one weekend.....

Kat, Ryan, noted.

I have some pressing issues to contend with at the moment but will keep your skills in mind. It's about time we add some features.

If everyone puts up a gallery OR just adds the required 4 pictures in their profile, it would be simple to do this. I have no problems doing it. I think I may put together an email database of all Stangfix members and send a mass email when the poll is posted so we can maximize the voting.

You can use announce topic for this.
