.....to bad they didn't continue in this body lines. Was the top chopped some or is it the longer nose/tail that gives the chopped top effect?

Yep, I was looking at that. It does make for a nice side view......to bad Ford did't continue with that bit of sleekness in the production model.

From the other camp I say thank god they didn't follow that path. The front and rear are about as ugly as I have ever seen. That nose looks like the proto-type for the Riviera. The rear looks like an after-thought and unfinished. Now the center console on the other hand I kinda like.

The front looks like a 60s Thunderbird, and the rear looks like the family truckster. I guess survivors don't get fixed, judging from that dent in the DS rear Quarter damage.

That was fixed in 2004 when they restored it for the 40 anniversary of the Mustang celebration.

I wish I had not lost all the close up interior and engine bay pictures I had taken. The engine was a 260 V8. The curator of the museum was real nice to let me in the display and even sit in this piece of history.
 
The museum placard say it was a prototype but it actually was a show car. Ment to build up interest in the Mustang before release time.

Also This one started out as a pre-production coupe. It was modified and it had a removable hardtop.

I noticed the first picture, it has rocker panels but the one in the museum does not.
