Storm Damage from Russo & Steele Auction...

those cars with bent roofpanels are the worst imho.
Yes , i also noticed some bondo and rust beneath the paint.
I got a bit sober to see those" high dollar cars " .

Wow those are some sobering pictures. Those poor poor cars. Imagine how sick you would be to find out your gorgeous car was destroyed. The cars with roof damage are definitely the worst off. Some people have a ton of work ahead of them.

It may be pre-mature, but I don't think my Hagerty rates will go up any noticeable amount. I assume that Russo&Steele and their facility would have insurance to cover these damages. While Hagerty may initially pay claims for damaged vehicles, these funds will I assume be re-imbursed by R&S's insurance carrier to include any expenses incurred by Hagerty.

There was a statement made in one of the responses about "your flagpole or tree falling on a neighbors house/kid/dog and being criminally negligent/legally responsible". Flagpole=yes. Tree=no. If one of my trees.... and I have a LOT of BIG ones.... falls on it's own.... i.e. I wasn't attempting to cut it down.... and it lands on/damages any of my neighbors property.... it's their problem, not mine. They claim any damages on their homeowners policy.

Not sure about auctions, but I'd bet they are like the consignment places around here - the contract states you have to maintain insurance, they do not cover your property, only thiers.

Also, the tree question is a bit more complex (in the states I'm aware of) - if it's live and falls, it's an Act of God under insurance, and the homeowners insurance pays. If it's dead, or substaintially damaged, the tree owner is liable. Of course, you need proof that it was in a condition that should have been dealt with.
