Starting to look for a new project. Suggestions for me or your dream project.

I just bought a '79 TA with T-Tops if that tells you anything, LOL! Been slow in getting much started on it though between work, the boys' baseball, trying to get ready for my test for brown belt with stripe, etc, etc.

My personal favorite is a '57 Bel Air if I could run out and buy anything I wanted. Buddy back in high school had one that was bad a**. However, that car would run high 11's so I can imagine the kind of $$ he had into the motor.

My local buddy that has a crap load of Mustangs also has a Fairlane that I would love to own...it's a '66 I think. He wasn't necessarily looking for another car but found it on CL out of Louisiana and got a real steal of a deal on it. It needs cosmetic work but he drove it home from Louisiana. It's just a two door car with a 302 though so nothing super special.

Cool.......depends on how much rust and what the final price would be. Remember....higher selling prices when finished means higher cost of parts too. Nothing is cheap any more.

what do you guys think of this? I am headed to Boise in a couple weeks and it would be a pretty cool project. Finished value would be a bit higher than some of the others I have been considering.

57 Nomads are very cool! Hot rodded out with a Ford drive train would be awesome. I have a good friend that goes the other way, a Ford body with GM engines.

I vote for the Nomad!

I've always loved Nomads. thta looks like a pretty nice start. The rear quater has a nice dent but with bad pix it loks nice.
A badass cruiser w/pw and a/c to take the family with on cruise nights!! :thu

An LS1 powered Stude sounds badd arse. I'd do it.

As for dream projects, I have too many 'favorites' to really choose, but if I had to, I'd do a Vega GT with a turbo Ecotec 4cyl, IRS, and a 6spd. Or the same car with a Caddy 3.6 V6. :steer If not that, a cloned SS/AA Hemi Dart with overdrive and AC would make for one sweet PowerTour mobile.

I sent the guy an email asking for more pictures as well as a few questions. The nice thing is I will be in Boise the first weekend in August to visit the in-laws. I am sure my father-in-law would look at it for me. Maybe even bring his car guy friend along to look at it for me. It is kind of crazy to think I purchased my Mustang while on vacation in Boise the first weekend in August in 2004. Perhaps this is fate?

For an engine in a Nomad I think an old Corvette ZR1 would be bad ass and very unusual! :thu

I think the Rambler idea would be pretty cool.
I really want to build a Rat Rod but J's would make mine look like crap. I really enjoy doing thing like the Power Tour so a Torino or bigger car (to hold more stuff and the kids too) would be cool for me. My two younger sons are getting to the age they want projects. My 14 year old wants a Chevelle or Nova and my youngest wants an hippie VW van. I may be helping to build those in a few years!

Although it has been overdone (I suppose), my next project will be a 67 Firebird. http://knoxville.craigslist.org/cto/248 ... html Too bad I'm not in the market or this one would be mine. I would take it and put a complete drivetrain from a 99-up Silverado 5.3 with a cam and intake change. However, I have found myself searching for the 'right' 64-66 SWB Stepside Ford or a 54-56 Ford truck. Although the truck would not be the right fit for a family.

The Firebird would be cool. Good price for it as well.

I guess the Nomad is sold. The guy never contacted me and the add is off Craigslist now. Oh well, probably a few months early to buy a new project anyways. The fun part is the search.

I think I would take that Firebird and put a SBF stroked in it and get some powered by Ford emblems for the fenders with some Ford V8 emblems on it too. Just to get back at those guys that put 350s in the 32 ford roadsters....

I do like the firebirds, but SWMBO doesn't. she is a Camaro person.

I would do a 30s Chevy roadster with Ford drive train too....

Hmmmm, how about a 59 Apache truck with a 460 ford in it?

The guy with the 57 Nomad called me back finally. It turns out that the car is his dad's and the family has owned it for about 35 years. He is not sure as to the completeness of the of the car (chrome trim). I know the trim can be EXPENSIVE for that car so I am going to have my FIL and BIL go look at the car to check it out. If if looks good and if the hard parts to find are there I will buy it. I won't know any detials until this weekend or early next week since th guy is out of town and can't show the car.
