Starter relay, ignition coil, distributor wiring

So I got the cam eccentric and fuel pump installed today so I figured I move on to the wiring. Heres my issue, what does the ignition coil and distributor get wired to? I currently have the distributor wired to the negative of the coil and the positive of the igntion coil wired to the starter relay? Is this correct or no? i assume its not because Im not getting any spark in the distributor. I have the wiring books but they dont see to be clear on the wiring for the ignition coil.

Can anybody help?

Note to this fine wiring diagram.
Be sure to take the resistor wire to feed the plus on the ignition coil.
Pink wire that comes from the ignition switch and goes to the coil.
That pink wire is a resistor wire so your ignition can work on a proper voltage.
During cranking the engine , it will be bypassed by another wire that comes from the starter relay.
Only during cranking , the coil get its voltage by the starter relay.
When engine is operating , the coil gets its voltage by this pink wire.
This pink wire is noticeble by its " different " insulation.

OK thanks for your help guys. Ive been sowly piecing the wiring back together and when I got to hooking up the ignition coil I cranked the engine over by jumping power across the starter relay to see if I got spark in the distributor and I ended up the with the engine ground smoking along with the batteries negative, So I just unhooked everything. I'll hook up all the wiring before I try cranking the engine over again. the smoke was a lil unnerving.

You should check those smoking wires out and probably replace them. You didn't do the insulation any favors by overheating the wires. If the covering is now hardened it is only a matter of time before it cracks and breaks allowing the wiring to be exposed and begins to corrode.

Once you let the smoke out like that.....you must send it to a qualified "smoke installer". Might check with Midlife to see if he knows of anyone...wait...he blows smoke all the time....lol
