Does anyone know how to easily clean spinner hubcaps? I have a set off of my 68 that I would like to clean up, however they look like they would take forever. I know they come apart to some degree but I'm not sure how far, any help?

Ron, as far as dis-assembly goes, the spinner assembly is unbolted from the back (as I'm sure you've noticed), but nothing else comes apart. Bottom line, they can be a pain to restore a bright shine to.

I have an identical set for my coupe and have been looking for alternate cleaning methods for awhile. The hubcap/spokes are stainless steel and I've been keeping my eyes open for a chemical method to clean them. Since SS is popular in the boating community I've been watching that area primarily. This is what appears to be the best candidate so far, though I haven't tried any yet. BTW, those are late 65/66 hubcaps. The 67/69 had a red center and no spinner, just a round piece. I you can buy the 67/69 center assemblies and I believe they're a direct bolt on to convert the ones you have (if you were interested).

I used Meguiar's metal polish (medium cut) and a Dremel with a felt polishing wheel. Took about 2 hours per hub cap but got a good result.
