My stang is going in for some paint to repair the damage from someone sideswiping it. I have a love/hate relationship with the rocker molding. I like the look on dark cars like mine, it is just enough bright to set off the look.but I keep knocking them off.

I am for sure going to have the body shop fill the holes from the Mustang letters on the trunk. I hate waxing around those things.

I will also not have the drip rail trim re-added after new paint.

IMHO, the rocker needs something, either the molding or a GT stripe. To think outside the box, a 69 GT stripe like mine does not need the letters, if you wanted to avoid drilling for those. IIRC, a 68 GT has the C stripe.

That brings up a good point. This Mustang originally had a white 'C' Stripe.

Originally I kept the rocker moulding holes available on Shag with plans to install the moulding. Once I got the car home, I decided I liked it way without. So I had the holes filled in and I am so happy. Also since you like I, do not have fender trim moulding which would compliment the rocker moulding, I wouldn't do it.
 
I don't really care for the rocker molding and I took them off my 66 and am very satisfied without them. But its a matter of personal preference, if you like them keep them if not get rid of them.

I'm not sure, but I thought I read somewhere that the '68 could have had the rocker stripes like the '67. Perhaps early 68s.

I removed the rocker moldings from mine. I like the plain look.

Yes, keep the moulding................hanging on the garage wall...... I have seen a couple that had the blacked out area of the moulding painted to match the car. That gave it a more subtle and different look but I am leaning towards leaving them off.
 
I like my coupe without the rocker moldings.. but I put them on my Fastback project along with the wheel well moldings, personally I think you need the w/w moldings with the rocker moldings
 
Mine will eventually go back on, but they will be body color sprayed with the bedliner type material used on the underside of the car. The top lip will remain stainless.
 
Thats a personel matter.
If you can mount them so they don't come loose after a while , I would mount them.
If they tend to come loose after a while , I would delete them in the first place.
Either way is good for me.
 
I considered getting rid of mine because my old ones looked like crap. Then I scored a free pair so I put them back on the car after it was painted.
 
A lot depends upon the car color. Your blue is not dark enough and needs some chrome to set it off. JMHO.
 
You could bead blast and then clear them for a satin look.

Or bead blast em and paint them black...
 
Just dropped the Mustang off at the painter. I decided to keep the rocker molding because you can see the door sill accent plates and the molding help hide that edge. I am removing the quarter panel ornaments and the trunk lettering. I am also adding a white 'C' Stripe.
