Shag comes to life.......

DILLIGARA?
Donator
.....and is barking like a wild animal after 33 years of hibernation.

Yes, after I resolved the spark issue yesterday, I was running out of excuses so I called Dave the engine builder attempting to schedule a fire up for this coming Thursday/Friday. He came back saying that he was booked Wed through the weekend preparing a couple motors and would be chiefing a pit crew at some races up in Redding, Cal. So he counters my inquiry with.... "How about we do it tonight"?

Crap!! I was just sitting down for a yummy meal and figured I had a couple days to fill my whiteboard with lots of excuses why not to fire up the motor.

Looked at my wife who was slaving over the stove (yeah right) and she says "Oh, get out of here and just do it".

Off to work I flew still needing to install a couple spark plugs, reconnect the plug wires. Finish up some wire rerouting, move Red, push Shag over to the garage door opening so we wouldn't die of carbon monoxide, etc.

Dave and Bobbie (who introduced me to Dave) finally arrive around 9pm. Dave wanted to make sure we had crank so he quickly turns the key on and Shag barked. Dave looked up at me and smiles "uh oh....someone wants to come to life"

Enough said. Dave is the older guy with the flannel jacket.

Shag's Fire Up 4/12/2010

No major issues were discovered except Dave hates the radiator I picked. Previously having worked in a radiator shop he pointed out tons of design errors and wants me to swap it out for a aluminum one such as a Northern series. He also said the clutch fan was not working right. But for now, all is good. No leaks, no nada. Got tons of compliments from the both of them.

After they left I had to have some one on one with Shag:

Shag is alive

Hot Damn, they caught you in a weak moment with no excuses. Time to get that bad boy on the road. Damn work net nanny won't let me view the video, :cry love the sound of a new engine firing.

Sweet!!! Congrats Craig :pbj

tried to watch the second video, but it appears you used the wrong url.

CONGRATULATIONS Craig. :pep :DD :pep Dang work firewall wont let me see the videos :cry but will be jumping on my phone real quick here to check it out.

So Craig, you've got 10 days till we leave for Knott's. Are we going to put that thing back together so you can actually DRIVE it to Knott's this year ??????????????????????

It's about time. A huge congratulations to you Craig!

After you let it cool down, did you check the Tefba filter screen? I was amazed just how much stuff collects in the filter for the first few hundred miles.

After re-watching the video a second time, I find it a bit different listening to a first time startup with a full exhaust system. Usually, a first time startup is with open headers. I guess you're just one step ahead of the game, and you won't have the exhaust system excuse to delay your first drive around the block!

Congrats...I guess I was a little off on the pool!!! Or did hell actually freeze over?? :lol :lol

to CRAIG CONGRATZ !!!!!

to SHAG RESPECT !!!!

SOUNDS AWESOME

THE BEAST IS ALIVE YEH !
