Actually I am re-educating myself on sending unit adjustments so we can resolve KBMWRS's incorrect gas gauge reading issue this coming xmas week.

Me too - there's no BEER or PIZZA any where in sight.

Besides that, I do think Craig is getting to be a master with the fuel level. That's some impressive work. For a sober guy.

I see your problem.

Me too, each time I look in the mirror.

Did you buy a 22 gallon sending unit??

Funny thing, I decided to go through my box of various sending units and found the one in the picture which yes is a 22 gal unit. Still need more testing before I give it a thumbs up. Also if you look closely, you'll see the volts as being 14? WTF!
Looks like I just took a pic before I started tweaking everything.

14V??? Is the LED display on the power source or the volt-meter (I can't tell). If it is the volt-meter, what are you using for a power source?

since we are revisiting, has anyone ever figured out a good, properly working repop/replacement sending unit? my car had a replacement tank/sender when i got it & it has never worked right. mine either stays on dead empty or grounds out & pegs. i've pulled it a few times, fiddled with it & it will work for a while, then stop again. thank goodness the tank has a drain bung...

Sure the float isn't filling up with gas? Actually I don't know if any sending unit that you can buy off the shelf which won't need tweaking. Steve, what year car and gas tank size are you working with?

I bought the good repro from NPD. Holding it gently it broke in my hands when I was checking how it worked.

Luckily cleaned up the old one, put a new brass float and sock on it. It's dead accurate!!!!

What exactly is wrong with Mikey's gas readings?

Should we start referring to Craig as "Rita the Meter Maid?"

its on my 69. the float is fine, its all in the cheesy setup where the external wire connects to the internal wire. next time i take it out, i'm going to see if i can redesign/reconfigure it to last. i think i might use a bullet push type connector on the stud as it seems when the nut is tightened on the loop connector, the inside loosens. had it apart 4 times now & its always the same.

Reading 1/4 tank low. Meaning with a full tank, it reads 3/4. Blah, Blah, Blah.
There's another way to adjust tank readings without futzing with the sending unit. On the back of the CVR is a trim pot which can be turned one way or another to adjust the level of the "constant" voltage. This affects the fuel, oil, and water temperature gauges simultaneously. The one gauge that needs accurate measurements is the fuel; the oil and water normal levels that change simply need to be now thought of as "normal".
