Retro Sound car radio

Hi Fellas, my first post. I'm looking at purchasing a retrosound system for my 67 coupe, are they the goods or is there something out there better. The Aussie dollar is good and I'm looking to throw a stereo and speakers with new kick panels and parcel shelf mounted speakers.

Congrats on being your first post. Define what you mean by retro. If you are considering a modern stereo system in the coupe then you have tons of options. If you like loud music, I'd consider putting an AMP in the trunk along with a sub woofer. That's what I did in the daughter's 65 coupe and I love the sound.

Kick panels with speakers is must for up front. Then some nice Boston Acoustics 6x9 speakers in the rear window shelf which are powered by the AMP as well.

Craig, retro sound is a brand name.....

Ashley, Welcome, great to have another from down under on the board! With the aftermarket producing faceplates with openings for the later model stereos, unless your looking for some kind of original look, I'd look at purchasing a higher end head unit that one of the retro sound or the other early model looking radios, to me they just always look cheesy... just my $.02

awwwww. I learn yet another thing. I can agree with Rick that unless you really want the stock look in a stereo, put a nice Pioneer or whatever. Then as I suggested a big ole thumper in the back that will rattle your dentures.

That it the company we were looking at for the 67. We like the Retro look. There is a company on the net that will take a stock radio and make it all modern on the inside.

Stay away from Custom Autosound. We have one that worked until the warranty was up. Now we have to totally new system.

We have kick panel speakers I think they are pioneer and fosgates in the window shelf. They are covered with tuck and roll vinyl and we have had huge sound from it. Many compliments about our sound.

So it kinda depends on your taste. I like amps and subs but I like my trunk space more.

We all have choices to make about what is important. For my 65 I have the stock AM radio.
