Reproduction 1967 fender extensions

Does anyone have any input about the fit quality of the reproduction 1967 fender/headlight extensions? Are there multiple manufacturers? Which ones are better than others? Who sells the good ones (if any are good)? Mine were destroyed in a towing mishap. I understand from NPD that the "Ford Tooling" repros are not very good anymore because the tooling is worn out.

Why reproduction ? Sure you will find a good orignal used one . I have a set here in the EU so in the states it can't be that hard. IMHO.

I agree with Bruno, see if you can find some good used ones. The reproductions just don't fit that well. Make the towing company purchase a couple NOS units!

Well, eBay is dead to me. Keyword spammers have killed it. A simple search for 1967 Mustang Headlight Extension turns up 2600+ results, nothing on the first page is remotely what I searched for. I didn't look any further. Anyplace else I can look?

I did a quick ebay search using "1967 mustang headlight extension" and it came up with quite a few used options as well as new reproduction units. I didn't do a deep dive to see if there were any NOS units on there. My gosh the prices for used ones have gone through the roof!

Frank:

Have you checked with Packy? Happy to pick them up and get them to you if he has any. Let me know if I can help.

Regards, Jeff

Wow, have prices jumped. I hadn't looked for stuff on EBay in a long time and seeing this made me curious to see what extractor/louver sets were seeking. If asking prices equate to sale prices I might be able to retire soon! I'm sitting on quite a few sets of those things.
I have another 65-66 fastback worth of parts in my attic that I should think about selling. Seats, louvers, interior panels, etc.

Frank, Sorry to hear about your towing incident. Was it during the move to AZ? Hopefully they are covering the cost. I also agree that good used pieces would be better than repros. Do you have any Mustang parts hoarders there?

Yes, I drove it from Hollister to AZ. It quit near Lost Hills/Buttonwillow. Long story, but two tow trucks. First guy was great, tied it down with chains. Second guy used nylon straps through the wheels. They broke and the car rolled forward into the flatbed structure. I did get it running again (voltage regulator and/or condenser) and made it to AZ without further incident. The tow company has refused all efforts to contact them, AAA had no luck either.

Them avoiding you after damaging your car is not acceptable. If AAA contracted the tow company, then they have a way to get ahold of them. Failing that, I would find their address and mail a demand letter to them for the damages, stating that your next move is to file a case against them in small claims court. I guarantee that the company has insurance, and this is what it is for. There are a couple of guys here in the Bay Area that probably have good used headlight buckets.Tom Cruz at Nortth Bay Mustang is a good place to start. 707-971-7152. Back when he was in Brentwood, I visited his place regularly and he had shipping containers full of doors, fenders, hoods, etc. If he doesn't ship, I could pick them up and mail them to you. Good luck!
