Pre-cut Dynamat kit?

I saw recently that Dynamat is making kits with pre-cut pieces, but I'm having trouble finding more about it. Anyone know of a link or something, I'm at that stage .....

Dynamat is overpriced. Last time I priced it, I could have had SecondSkin's top of the line deadner mat for basically the same $, and I get the feeling pre-cut Dynamat is going to be an even shocking amount of $$.

SecondSkin or RAAMMAT is better anyway. :D

That would be correct, but then we would get complaints about broken links for anyone not logged in or that does not have the passwords. This would be a good place to post, if anyone wants the passwords, send a PM to one of the mods/admins. Preferably Mark, SilverBlueBP......
 
Now back to our regularly scheduled program.......

Dynomat is OVERPRICED. forgitabotit. Go Second Skin or other brand. And buy a blade....cut it yourself. You just know any pre-cut stuff is always going to be a little off and will need fill-in pieces.
 
I went with Raammat BXT. It was on sounddeadershowdown.com a couple years ago as the best bang for the buck before that guy went commercial selling his own product.

The Dynamat is overpriced, but if you look around you can pick it up for about the same price. I spent some time with auto Ebay searches, and got two large Dynamat packs for less than Raamatt
 
I'd be careful with unsupported claims that this or that is"just as good" etc. Fact of the matter is you are probably wrong. Yes you are usually going to pay a premium for a top brand name but there is usually a very good reason they are a top brand. Do you really believe the HVAC stuff you can buy at Home Depot is just as good and does all the same things as well as say Dynamat?

I work for a company that makes, among other things, about a thousand different types of tape. Literally dozens of each type, such as masking or duct. Some are down and dirty price fighters, others are premium specialty types. Things such as paper thickness, adhesive type or coat weight, release coatings, UV stabilizers...the list goes on...all make a difference in performance. One tape may be easily removed a week after application while another would hold so fast as to peel the paper surface off your drywall at that point. One tape will hold fast in a cold freezer another would let loose....and so on. It's the same with this type of material. Lots of various properties together add up to a solid product.

I cringe every time I read about a guy who saved $25 by buying a cheap product that he applied throughout his restored project. I worry about moisture penetrating the material and rotting out the metal. I worry about adhesive that will fail on a hot July or freezing January afternoon and let the stuff fall to the door bottoms and onto the backside of a headliner.

There are lots of options out there and many perform very well. Just remember the old saying, "You get what you pay for", usually holds true. And yes, you can find great deals on the top brands if you do a little research.
 
Didn't happen here but it does in every other internet discussion of this topic. The point of my post was that there is a lot that goes into the development and design of many of the products we use and that people should take a moment to consider why one item may be priced significantly higher than another...and why one may function better as well.
 
I bought the roll stuff and did my trunk and floor of my car with it. It was so easy and it sticks good. What I need to know is what I use in my headliner/roof area? That crap I took out was disgusting. Ford should have known better. I am thinking of useing some of that 1/2" Roll of foam that AC people use on ducts. What say you "old" wise ones?
 
I'm using the stuff from NPD up in the roof, called Heat Shield. It has a foil layer to it, and it about 1/2-3/4" thick. Cost isn't too bad either, roughly $40-50 for the roof.
 
Well, I went ahead and ordered the Raam stuff. The guy was pretty helpful (and very talkative, if you call, set aside about 1/2 hour). He told me what he would use and how he'd do it. Overall about $300, so maybe a little cheaper than Dynamat. He swears that if I follow his instructions I'll be very happy.

Should get it tomorrow, I'll post how it goes.
