Piston Help

I took my engine to the machine this week and now we have a problem. We are having problem finding pistons for it. Here is what I have. It is a standard bore 427 block. I do not want to bore it if I don't have to. I am using a 428 crank and a set of 72cc Edelbrock heads. So what I want is a piston with 4.233" bore with a compression height of 1.665 and about a 20cc dish in them. That will give me around a 10-1 compression ratio. So my question is does anyone know where I can find such a piston. Keith Black makes one but the smallest bore they have is 4.250" so I would have to bore the block to use them. Other than custom made pistons I might be out of luck.

Just checked out the PAW web site and another dead end street. Seems like pistons for a standard bore 427 block just are not out there. You would think with the 427 blocks being reproduced now they would make standard bore pistons for them.

You could try Shelby:
Shelby FE Forged Aluminum Pistons and Pistons Rings

Carroll Shelby Enterprises can supply custom forged pistons for any Shelby 427 Alloy FE or factory cast iron FE engine combination from street to extreme performance.

Forged high silicon aluminum alloy Shelby pistons permit tighter piston-to-wall clearance for better ring seal and maximum power.
Lighter pistons also mean reduced reciprocating weight which contribute to increased rpm and engine durability.

Pistons compression height can be customized to accommodate longer rods used in stroker combinations. Flat or dome top configurations can be specified, depending on compression ratio needs. pistons come standard with piston pins.

Complementing piston selection are premium gap-style piston rings utilizing a ductile iron top ring, which is also plasma-moly coated for superior sealing and heat resistance. Gapless-style rings are also offered.

I ordered a set of pistons today from Survival Motorsports today. Had to go with a custom made pistons. Barry ( The Owner ) was very helpful. They sure carry alot of FE engine parts. If anyone needs something for a FE engine give him a call. Check them out at the web site below.
