Old Grumpy
Now you all know why I avoid cameras. I just got in from a round of jousting with windmills and saw this thread. I had no idea that I had become such a folk hero for doing battle with the bureaucrats. Actually, I just got off the phone with the DMV regarding (oh no Mr. Bill!) the approval of yellow on blue plates for my 69 Corvette. I went through two levels of management until they approved the plates, effective today. I told them about the switch over from 63 yellow on black plates to 70 yellow on blue plates occuring mid year in 1969. Then I told them about the strike that Chevrolet had in 1969 at the St. Louis production plant that built the Corvettes. As a result, Chevy kept building 69 Vettes until 12/31/69 to deliver all the back orders. My Vette can be verified from the VIN to be built on 10/16/69. That would mean it wasn't delivered to CA until sometime in late October or early November and probably wasn't registered for the first time until mid November. It would have definitely been issued the yellow on blue plates as a new car. Amazingly, they took the information, and called back within an hour to tell me the plates were approved and I should get my new registration documents in the next two weeks. Maybe I should become an advocate for the down trodden. Nah!
