On the way to Knotts, Shag dumps a fuel pump - WTF !

due to the time of day and the crappy mood I was in, I decided it was best to break away from the problem and go have a liquid dinner.

Sitting across from Craig at the Outback I can verify that crappy mood and liquid dinner. :wth

He was 180 degrees different Saturday night. Either because Shag was fixed and running again or he got lucky Friday night. :sm_TMI

That is a sight you never like to see. A beautiful mustang on a tow truck.
Unfortunately I have been there many times. :roll

Sorry to hear your troubles Craig. Seems like the best decision was to have a liquid dinner. Glad to hear it all worked out!

Just be glad you were driving a classic and not a newer car.
You wouldn't have gotten a helping hand, Just hand jestures and horn honks as the passed by you. :rant

If Craig had been driving a newer car, he wouldn't have broke down and he would have made it all the way to Knott's... :hide

No but Rosie did :wth

Craig, better hide those photos. It could give those Chebbie guys reason to tell you what they think F.O.R.D stands for

After reading some reviews on the pump the local store sold me (Airtex 60007), I have a feeling I'll be ordering a better one from Summit very soon. Very low volume pump that apparently goes south way too often.

I am considering one day to mount an electric pump.
I think its durable and exclude the danger that fuel gets to the oil when a mechanical fails. :confu :confu

...and add the danger of it spewing fuel everywhere in a crash even though the engine has stopped running.

Electric pumps bring in a whole other set of concerns. Noise is a big one. Higher failure rates versus mechanical pumps have been my experience. If your not going with an in the tank arrangement I would think twice.

You mount them in rubber and near the tank....with the proper exhaust system you never hear them. Even though I have never installed one, a safety shut off switch should be used. Fail rate is not the best......and from my research, buying higher dollar units does help a bit. The in tank setup seems more reliable too.

Yes I agree that in tank pumps, are the way to go if you go electric. Because of this, I'll probably stay with mechanical.

The only external electric fuel pump I'd consider due to noise is the Holley HP125. They are a $200 fuel pump though...

I have a holley under the car. No clue what it is specifically though. I just know its noisy and very loud.
Sounds like a good ole Holley Red pump.

What are those new cars you see on tow truck? :yah

Someone PM Craigs address. I have an article he just has to have from my new to me vintage Mechanix Illustrated magazines that feature Mustangs.

Hehehehe, Craig will love them. May even come in handy! If my scanner worked, I'd post them!
