As signs of spring start to appear I find myself with added inspiration to get those old projects moving again. For me that usually means buying stuff. I learned two valuable lessons today. The first, modern transmissions are HEAVY. The second, this old body isn't what it once was. Had planned on getting more accomplished today but after all the loading, unloading and more loading and unloading I need a break. Man, I wish I could get by with an old school C4 or T5!

Sure. Laugh but life was a whole lot easier when a guy could just pull a trans up on his chest, slide under his car and bench press it up into place.

Try that with a 6R80 {.}

I feel for you, Terry. It is amazing how much strength we lose as we get older. I find myself in a new fitness routine trying to gain back some of what was lost.

As for the modern transmission, that one is on you!

I struggled with the shift to a modern trans (pun intended) but it just made the most sense. The stable consists of the 65 with a SBF stroker/5 speed combo, the '31 with the blown flathead backed by a T5 and, finally coming together, the F1 getting a Coyote and the 6 speed auto.

I like the variety and driving experience each will provide. Had to have an auto in the truck as the wife isn't a fan of a manual and she wants to be able to drive it. I think its the perfect one for it as well because it will be the most comfortable for long road trips having all the modern amenities.

As far as working out, I need to step up my game there too. The old Hydro rower is great overall but I need to get back to free weights as evidenced by the struggles hefting around the transmissions this week!

We all need at least one slushbox in the fleet for the easy cruise nights. I can tell you my 68 Cougar automatic is a lot easier to drive in the big cruise we have here compared to the fastback.
