Nice to have a dash again!

It has taken a long time to restore all the pieces, but I finally have the dash back together!

A few things are still temporary (e.g. the steering wheel while the rimblow is being restored, the shift handle, and the dark trim around the radio/heater controls). Next is a windshield and the first freeway shake down!

Will you be laying down sound/heat shield?

Absolutely... although not visible the entire underdash/cowl area already has Damplifier on it. If you look closely in the picture, you can see a roll of silver foil seam tape on the passenger side floor ;-). The doors, roof, roof pillars, and rear quarters are already done too; about the only area I haven't done yet is the main floor area visible in the picture!

Nice dash chrome. Did you have dash restored? If so, who did the work?

This is the new dnyacorn deluxe dash piece - it was actually cheaper than getting my original rechromed. It is one of the best reproductions I have seen; fit was perfect. There are a couple issues with it, as with any reproduction, but they are easy to address:

1) The paint used on the dark trim is pure black, not charcoal metallic. This is only an issue on the very bottom where it is directly adjacent to the metal lower dash.

2) The inner rings directly adjacent to the gauges are chrome, and should be covered with argent paint.

You bought both pieces? Where did you buy from? What $ did it set you back?

I just bought the driver's side... As I recall it was about $125 @ kentucky mustang. To be clear this is the just the backing piece, not the woodgrain which is original.

Dynacorn has not released the clock piece yet, and when they do I will use it. In the mean time, I got some metal foil tape (the kind used by model builders) for the passenger side. Looks great while seated; but if you put your face up to it you can see the ends and a bit of an uneven edge (Now you know the dark secret of my dash and I have to kill you! Where's my space modulator? :marv ).

Good luck,

-Rory

Thanks, your secret's safe with me and the rest of StangFix. Got any close up pics of that panel??

I had both my 70 deluxe panels plated by MR G thinking I was going to do detail them myself. Now that I'm knee deep in other upgrades, I was hoping Ray Azcue would help me out but he doesn't want to touch anything MrG has done. Will ck into that, I might can detail my clock panel but the instrument panel is a tough one with the argent bezels.
